8 Christmas Mantel Ideas

When it comes to holiday decorating, I like to plan ahead and make a list of any items I might need. Without a list, I tend to buy more stuff than necessary so it pays to spend a little time thinking about Christmas decor. I found a few Christmas mantel ideas that might inspire you, too!

I love the simplicity of this red and white mantel (not to mention I’m in love with the wing chairs!). An uncomplicated garland of pine cones and red berries adorns the mantel with a small wreath hanging front and center. A line-up of red and white candles adds warmth and ambiance.

Metallic houses reflect the glow of Christmas lights entwined in a natural garland. A vintage mirror against the wall helps keep the sparkle going.

Soft white stockings suspend from a brick mantel with burning embers casting a cozy glow below. An impressive vintage mirror tops it all off with a mercury ball garland.

A collection of simple bottle brush Christmas trees look merry and bright atop a painted mantel. A string of LED lights weaves its way between the trees. Block houses complete the holiday scene.

I love this gray, silver, and white Christmas mantel!  I adore a little bling for the holidays and this decor pulls it off with class and style. Plain white pillar candles compliment the glamour of the garland and Christmas presents.

The green and blue ornament garland caught my eye on this Christmas mantel. Soft blue drapes frame the fireplace while a JOY marquee sign adds a bit of whimsy between silver candlesticks. It’s a nice balance of fun and elegance.

  1. I just started decorating mine yesterday! Target has some really cute and affordable holiday items this year. I had a lot of fun shopping in the morning and decorating afterward.

  2. Some super inspiration you posted. I made a list of some ideas yesterday and it made me feel much better.

Beginning today and taking my time. I want to enjoy doing my plan and enjoy the season this year.

  3. Really inspiring mantles! I have so much blue and white that I can never go “red and green” in my Christmas decorating and yet I am always drawn to the warmth of those Christmas colors. In our early years of marriage I began collecting Lenox’s “Holiday” pattern and I have amassed quite a bit. I would always decorate the dining area in red/green/gold to accentuate the Holiday china and pieces. Now that we have downsized to one Great Room (no separate dining area) I am puzzled how to incorporate it with the blue and white Great Room decor. Some of the mantles you shared inspired me to somehow tie in the Holiday pieces in my mantle decorating. Any suggestions?
PS: I really LOVED the idea of putting color coordinated gifts in the stockings as decor!!

  4. These were so very magical, candles, lights, trees and houses are all great decorating pieces with a mirror for back drop. Thanks for all these ideas.
