Book Page Apples and Free Printable

For as long as I can remember, I've loved working with paper. It started with doing origami as a young child and moved onto making gum wrapper chains as an older kid. Then in junior high I became enamored with stationery and all the different patterns available. When I managed a fitness club, I loved coordinating colored memos and signs. And now, I love working with book pages and scrap book paper (even though I don't do any scrap booking). Last … [Read more...]

How to Make a Book Page Garland

Some of my favorite decor items are garlands and banners, and anything made with book pages. I realize there are folks who think you should never disfigure a book, but the librarians say they get more book donations than they need. So rather than throw the books into the garbage only to clutter the landfill, why not recycle them into something beautiful? Today I'm sharing how to recycle a book into a pretty book page garland. I have a book page … [Read more...]

DIY Botanic Print Art Project

I don't consider myself much of an artist but I do like to tinker with creating pretty things. At least, I hope they'll be pretty when I'm finished with them. Today I'm sharing an easy DIY botanic print art project. Earlier this month at our local flea market I ran across this beautiful botanic artichoke print and was inspired to turn it into an art project. Here's my finished project, a botanic print framed in book pages. I love botanic prints … [Read more...]

How to Make Book Page Bird Nests

February is almost over and that means spring isn't too far away, right? That's what I keep telling myself, anyway! Lately we've had a couple of owls in the yard that provide beautiful music with their melodic hoots. Often, I fall asleep listening to them. Soon the robins will come back and join them ... it'll just be a few weeks before we see their beautiful red breasts. I love birds and as a kid, was overjoyed whenever I'd find one of their … [Read more...]

Setting a Thanksgiving Table: Option One

When I was a child growing up, my mother always set a beautiful table for Thanksgiving dinner. She carefully selected a linen tablecloth, matching place settings, cloth napkins, coordinating stemware, and a beautiful centerpiece to make the meal special. Pop cans were never allowed at the table and I enforce that rule in my own home at holiday meals. What are some holiday dining traditions at your house? For me, part of the joy of a holiday meal … [Read more...]

My Passion for Book Page Crafts

Lately I'm becoming more and more drawn to anything made with book pages! Within minutes the words on a book's page take you to another place and time. The musty smell of an old book with an elegant cover is a sensory pleasure I'll always treasure. And when you're done with a book, you can transform it into a work of art. I've been collecting books for projects around the house and thanks to Pinterest, I'm finding an unending supply of crafts to … [Read more...]

Crafting with Paper Mache Boxes

A recent trip to Hobby Lobby didn't result in getting what I went there for (drawer pulls - do they even carry these?). Instead, I saw some plain yet adorable paper mache butterfly boxes and knew just what I wanted to do with them. I was tired of walking around the store looking for the drawer pulls that I never found and wanted to get busy decorating my three butterfly boxes.  This is one of the finished box lids. I meant to take a picture of … [Read more...]
