Charming Home Tour ~ Dans le Lakehouse

Today’s the last Sunday in July and since it’s mid-summer it seems only fitting that today’s charming home tour features a lakehouse!  Tanya at Dans le Lakehouse has been transforming her Lake Superior home since she and hubby purchased it a little over a year ago. They enjoy a gorgeous lakeside view and are doing a fabulous job redecorating.

Cottage Style Kitchen in Turquoise and WhiteTanya’s colorful kitchen is perfect for a lakeside home!  Note how the artwork on the wall mimics the shape and size of the window next to it. I love that the picture has a pop of red in it.  Red always plays beautifully with turquoise.

Pyrex Collection in a Cottage Style Kitchen in Turquoise and WhitePyrex collectors will love the pieces on Tanya’s kitchen shelves. My grandmother had lots of Pyrex and I wish I would’ve kept it. Instead, I think most of her pieces sold at a garage sale before they downsized into a smaller dwelling.

Mid Century Modern Living RoomTanya’s living room has a mid-century modern feel with plenty of windows for viewing the lake. Tanya painted the fireplace a rich gray and carries some of the kitchen’s turquoise into this space. It’s a great way to unify rooms that are open and adjacent to each other.

Mid Century Modern Dining RoomTanya hung a playful George Nelson bubble lamp over her teak table in the dining room … and I love it!  Even though I’m a farmhouse style girl at heart, I still appreciate many other decorating styles and mid-century modern is one of them. The light fixture draws your eye up to the cathedral ceiling and expansive windows.

White hallway with polished wood floorsYou’ll find lots of interesting artwork throughout Tanya’s home, like the paintings you see here in the hallway. White walls keep the hall light and bright, and puppy creates a great focal point in the distance!

Bathroom with Painted CabinetsWhen Tanya redecorated her bathroom, she kept the mint green counter top and it looks great with the gray paint on her cabinets. Sometimes it’s good to keep a home’s original finishes, provided they’re in decent shape.

Home OfficeMore turquoise works its way into Tanya’s office in the form of curtains and a painting.

Master BedroomThe same turquoise tab curtains can be found in Tanya’s master bedroom. The green pillows on the bed create a pleasing contrast. Another contrast is the metal headboard paired with the soft white comforter. Tanya has a gift for pairing unlike objects and decor. It makes a room more interesting.

Guest House at Dans le LakehouseTanya and her hubby are lucky to have this guest house on their Lake Superior property.

Dans le LakehouseNot only do they have a lakefront view, but they enjoy an expansive piece of property with a variety of trees. The wide staircase is a nice touch off the back deck.

Budapest, HungaryThis picture is from Tanya’s trip to Budapest, Hungary where she spent 4 months. I wanted to include this in the tour because both my husband and I are Hungarian. We’d love to someday visit the country where our ancestors came from. Maybe someday!

  1. Thanks so much for sharing my home tour! I’m so honored – and I’m blushing because of your kind compliments about my home! It’s a work in progress and we’re actually renovating the bathroom right now! It’s exciting to see it take shape.

  2. I enjoyed my vicarious trip to Hungary this morning. I hope you and hubby get there soon. I was thinking for a while….she had her wedding ring on the left hand ring finger when she was petting the cat….then when she was coming home the ring was on the right hand ring finger. Then I recalled this beautiful home she and hubby have, sooooo, I guess all is well in the love and marriage. Thanks for a great trip this morning.
