Charming Home Tour ~ Hunt and Host

Happy first Sunday of Fall!  I love summer and always hate to see it end, but I enjoy fall, too. I just hate what comes after autumn … but I won’t think about that right now because we have a beautiful home to tour!  Hunt and Host is a blog I recently discovered, and I immediately fell in love with Kim’s style and charming home! This talented lady has transformed a once-dated home with potential into a beautiful treasure!

Traditional Living RoomGleaming hardwood floors set the stage for the living room that has both feminine and masculine features. A leather couch and hunted deer head on the wall play against the soft white slipcovers giving the room balance and interest.

White KitchenWood floors continue into Kim’s pretty kitchen where white cabinets create a light and airy feel. A sizable kitchen island provides space for extra seating and plenty of room for meal prep.

Seating Area in a Breakfast NookKim created a cozy seating area in the breakfast nook. And did you notice the Dutch door to the right? Her home has attractive elements like the shelves surrounding the window and an elegant chandelier suspended above the love seat.

Den with FireplaceStep into Kim’s den from the kitchen and you’ll find a cozy fireplace and a wall of windows. I love the painted paneling in this room!  A rustic steamer trunk takes center stage as a coffee table.

Laundry Room and Craft RoomI’ve always been a fan of black and white checkerboard floors like the one you see here in Kim’s laundry/craft room. One of my  junior high friends had a floor like this in her home’s entry way and kitchen. This laundry space serves double duty as a craft room, too!

Girl's Eclectic BedroomA fun light fixture adorns Kim’s daughter’s bedroom where a shabby chic comforter is paired with a colorful quilt.

Boys Bedroom in Brown and GreenEarthy colors of brown and green are found in the boys’ bedroom. The rustic headboard was made out of salvaged wood.

Boys Bathroom Makeover at Hunt and HostI thought I would include one before-and-after photo from Kim’s house. The boys’ bathroom is just one example of the work and effort Kim has put into her entire home.  You’ll want to visit her blog just to see how extensive the transformation of the entire home has been.

Backyard Pool at Hunt and HostThe outside has undergone a makeover, as well. Kim has turned her thoughtful eye to every square inch of her home, both inside and out. And now her family enjoys beautiful surroundings, like their backyard pool.

Front Yard with Tree SwingI hope you enjoyed this tour of Kim’s charming home, complete with tree swing in the front yard! Be sure to visit her at Hunt and Host to see the complete makeovers of all the rooms you saw here today. Kim certainly has creative vision!

  1. Very pretty home, warm, and inviting. Love the large social area and open spaces like the kitchen and breakfast nook.
    Thanks for sharing.

  2. I just found your blog (a post about Geneva) after an early a.m. look-see at Pinterest! I live in Morris, IL + so am very familiar with Geneva. In fact, we used to drive around the neighborhoods just to admire the historic homes! Good times! Anyway, re this house tour — that navy blue room was so beautiful! I really wanted a navy living room in our Dutch colonial house re-do, but I “chickened out” + opted for a medium-dark gray, instead. Anyway, love your blog!
