Down on Na-Da Farm

Tonight was my first visit to the Na-Da Farm Barn Sale, and it did not disappoint. A few fellow bloggers were setting up booths at this market and I was especially looking forward to meeting them in person. All the wonderful eye candy and trinkets for sale were simply the frosting on the cake.

Located in Esmond, Illinois, the farm is snuggled into some of the richest soil in our country.
So many charming elements are found at this homestead, featured in Romantic Prairie Style by Fifi O’Neill.
A warm welcome rolled out the evening on a sunny spring afternoon.
A great selection of quality vendors was on hand. I vowed not to spend a lot of money.
The only problem with that vow is that I failed to define “a lot of money.”
A bevy of lanterns set against the big blue sky of the Illinois plains.
Bottles were in abundance. Love this little arrangement for just $15.
But I didn’t buy them because of my vow.
I didn’t even look at the price of these gorgeous crocks.
The one thing I did want to buy in this booth wasn’t for sale.
It was a big red sign with “Red Bird Antiques” on it.
This charming, enamel Seed box really tempted me at just $20.
I wish now that it had come home with me … but I made that vow.
Wouldn’t this make an adorable potting bench?
I didn’t check the price on this charmer, either. So far, so good!
I tried talking my daughter Bridget into buying this banner since she just got married.
Apparently she also made a vow not to spend “a lot of money.”
I confess, in this booth I bought 2 coffee bean sacks. Not “a lot of money” though.
After shopping the outside vendors, we headed over to the barn to check out more tempting morsels.
I think these adorable burlap flower pots were part of the booth by the gals from Carter’s Cottage.
You may know some of them … Laura of Whimsical Perspective, Sherry of A Ruffled Nest,
and of course, Christie who owns Carter’s Cottage and is a regional trainer for Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
I decided to pick up some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Pure White for my family room cabinet.
Isn’t this dresser beautiful? My daughter wanted the bottle in the basket but she refrained.
Our willpower continued to weaken, however. Bridget had already bought a big, metal blue star from Carter’s.
Gorgeousness assaulted our senses at every turn.
I really, really wanted to buy this door, but couldn’t think of where I’d hang it.
So I remembered the vow and walked away (now that I’m home I know the perfect spot for it).
I really wish now that I would’ve made this piece mine. Sigh.
Trouble with a capital T stormed through the door of my heart when we entered this booth,
which belongs to Stacey at A Sort of Fairytale Girl. See that farm pillow?
I bought one but with different fabric that had big blue flowers. How did I miss that striped pillow though?
Bridget really wanted this sign, but she was naughty and had already spent all her money.
I think I might be able to make something similar for her though. This was in a booth with several vendors.
I bought a book, some decorative French tags, and a white enamel pot.
Part of the booth belonged not only to Stacey, but also to Urban Farmgirl,
We then moseyed on over to Jennifer Rizzo‘s booth. She’s so talented!
I seriously considered buying the little mannequin,
but I was already blowing my vow not to spend “a lot of money.”
Plus, Jennifer sells some of her artwork at a local shop so I know where to find her treasures.
This beautiful table was sitting just outside the barn.
Some people think the plains and farmfields of Illinois are boring,
but I think they’re simply breathtaking and serene.
I realize I didn’t take any photos of the stuff that came home with us.
That’ll have to be another post on another day.
All in all … a great event with awesome vendors and gorgeous weather.
Thanks to Anne Marie at Na-Da Farm for a spectacular evening!

  1. Oh, I wish I could have gone to that sale! The seed box would have been hard to pass up. I’m sure I would have come home with the little Mexican painted chair. I seem to have a weakness for children’s furniture. It’s always a fun day when you’re shopping with a daughter!

  2. Jennifer,
Looks like you had a great time.I have no money to spend.I spent it all at garage sales yesterday. And I can’t go to a sale just to look.Although it would be nice to meet up and chat with the vendors. Can’t wait to see what you found.

  3. Came over from Funky Junk. I made a vow to NOT spend any money on anything this long weekend. It’s Saturday night and so far I have been good – mainly because I refused to go anywhere that might tempt me. However, if I had run into that cute seed box, I would have broken my vow in a skinny minute! You had a great hunting expedition!

  5. Gosh, don’t you hate those vows and all the stuff that gets away because of them. You are just like me. Sigh. So much cool stuff. Thanks for sharing the pics. I found your post at Between Naps on the Porch.

  6. Thank you so much for sharing that! I agree with you about Illinois too. I think it’s beautiful and especially now that I’m not living there! There’s no place like home!
The sale was fun to see all that great stuff! I had heard about the sale but didn’t know where in Illinois it was and thanks to you I got to go to it!
I LOVED that table….beautiful! How much was it do you know? I’m always curious what stuff goes for. Thanks again and I can’t wait to see your treasures!

  7. Wow! I commend you on your restraint. I don’t know if I could have been that good. All your gorgeous photos were such eye candy. I wish we had sales like that in Western New York!

  8. I will learn from your vow, not to make one because I love those bottles with the word Bloom on them. Easy to do too huh?
