Dreamy Blue Bedroom

When I think of bedrooms, I always think of blue and white. Blue is such a restful color while white lends a crisp pop. Our bedroom isn’t cluttered … rather, it displays a minimalist decor point of view. I’ve tried to include some softness to keep it from looking too cold, but I like that it’s not busy. I think a cluttered bedroom would keep me awake, but that’s just me.

The little pink lamp was a $25 find at Amazing Grace Antiques. The bed was a light-stained, wooden
4-poster Ethan Allen purchase. I got tired of the high posts so (gasp) had hubby cut them down.
A few coats of white and finials for the shortened posts transformed the bed to a one-of-a-kind.
The butterfly pillow is one of a pair found at the hospital’s consignment shop.
Its partner lives in the family room. Just $10 for the pair.
The bedding and mattelasse cover is from Martha Stewart’s collection at Macy’s.
The white dresser was a $90 find at Amazing Grace Antiques, while the little
wooden chair was a discard from a nearby home that was being raised.
I love the knobs and swirls on the drawers.
The white Santa and church are hand-me-downs from my mother.
Eventually they’ll be handed down to my daughters.
Santa’s supposed to go on a tree top, but you won’t be able to see him way up high,
so he’s taken up residence in our bedroom for the holidays.
A painted barn door rests in a corner of the room next to the window, adorned with a grapevine wreath.
It was too sunny to include the window in this shot, but they’re simply white muslin with ball fringe.
The barn door was used as a coffee table in a friend’s home. I deconstructed and painted it.
Behind the pillows you can see a swirl of decorative trim that hubby added to the headboard.
Thanks for visiting our cozy little bedroom. Old houses don’t have large bedrooms,
but I love snuggling up in the blankets under the eaves.

  1. The blue walls with white furniture is very soothing. Love that Santa. Think he will be happy on the dresser than on top of a tree where he is not seen as well. Blessings.

  2. My bedroom is blue and white too. Cobalt blue and white were our wedding colors, and I have wedding photos, cake topper, toasting glasses, and my bouquet as decor. I love it! It’s such a soothing color combination.
