Dry Sink Full O’ Fall

When I bought the new buffet, it replaced the dry sink which meant the dry sink needed to move. The dry sink took up residence where the bookshelf used to be. The bookshelf didn’t belong in the dining room anyway.

The dry sink is painted white using regular latex paint.
I think I’m going to paint it Old White using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
This way, it will match the dining table and buffet.
The mirror used to be gold. I painted it today in Old White. The gold looked too heavy.
I think I’m going to add a little distressing and dark wax to the mirror to accentuate the details.
The centerpiece of this vignette is the lovely white ironstone pitcher.
I’ve been wanting one for awhile now and found it at our recent trip to Galena.
It measures about 12″ tall and I found it at an antique book store.
I found a couple old books at that book store in Galena. There were hundreds of books!
I’ve just been lovin’ white pumpkins and gourds this season.
And gourds in neutral colors. It’s such a nice, soft palette.
The soft-colored gourds look wonderful next to the ironstone pitcher, which I’m still drooling over.
Hubby doesn’t get it. I had to tell him I’d serve water in it at Thanksgiving so he’d think it was useful.
Heaven forbid I should buy it just because it’s pretty!
One thing about gourds … you can use them for decor through both Halloween and Thanksgiving.
Most I’ve been able to find for 50 cents each, so very thrifty decorating if you ask me.
How long before the kitties knock the gourds onto the floor?
Now that the dining room is ready for fall, it’s onto the living room.
