Farmhouse Dining Room Decor Ideas

When you’re in the process of re-doing or redecorating a room, it can be a challenge to pull an entire look together. I recently moved my dining furniture to the living room and converted the dining space to a sitting room. I haven’t done a whole lot in the “new” dining room as I’m still looking for farmhouse dining room decor. I also don’t want to spend a lot of money so I’m taking my time. I decided to put together a few inspirational photos and design boards to help me create the right look. (This post contains affiliate links.)

This gorgeous, white pedestal table is from Overstock. With pedestal tables, you have to be careful where the table legs are positioned. You don’t want guests bumping their knees on the legs. I don’t like when dining chairs don’t properly straddle table legs.

I found several farmhouse dining tables that would fit well with my existing decor. Some are simple, some a little more elaborate. But they all have a farmhouse vibe to them. Sources are listed below the collage.

With a table comes farmhouse dining chairs. I already have end chairs that I plan to use. They’re currently in front of my mantel, decorated for summer.

I did find several side chairs that would work well. I’m partial to Windsor chairs, but I like other styles too.

The icing on the dining room cake is the chandelier!   The trick is to choosing the right size fixture for your space and dining table. Love this metal Paladino chandelier offered at Wayfair.

I could’ve created a really long design inspiration board filled with chandeliers!  There are so many that I love.

Here’s my farmhouse dining room from a few years ago. The room was simply too small to comfortably hold everyone during holiday celebrations. We made it work, but we need a little more elbow room.

Today this room is now a cozy sitting room, which I shared during my spring home tour. Perfect for reading, sharing coffee with hubby or a few friends, or sitting with the laptop and browsing the internet.

I’m in no particular hurry to get the dining room done. Part of redecorating a room is the journey it takes to accomplish it. Do you have any room projects this summer?

  1. Are the chandeliers you picked really farmhouse style? They seem too glam glam to me for farm style.
Did you consider a round table? How does one choose if the room isn’t long and narrow? Teach me.
I like your idea of the board for planning and NOT being rushed
I am sure whatever you select I will enjoy!

  2. I’m working on our Dining Room as well! I’m like you, not in a hurry because I want the pieces to be perfect. But on the other hand it’s mostly having to do it this way because the Mister doesn’t have the same mindset when it comes to decorating. He thinks because the walls aren’t falling down, that paint color from the 90’s is still fine (insert rolling eyes). Have fun!

  3. Your sitting room oozes comfort and style. I know that you will create a great dining space for you and your family. Thumbs up!
