Farmhouse Kitchen Dressed for Spring

Are you lovin’ the longer days of spring as much as I am? It’s incredible how a few more hours of daylight can put a pep in your step. Today I thought it’d be fun to share some photos of my kitchen from 5 years ago. It includes the pops of yellow that I’ve been adding to my home this spring season – and it reminds me of what I can pull out from storage to use this year! (This post contains affiliate links.)

Farmhouse Kitchen Decorated for Spring

My farmhouse kitchen seems so much happier when sunlight is streaming in for hours on end. It makes me smile when I come down in the morning  to brew a pot of coffee.

I found a beautiful bouquet of  yellow gerbera daisies at the grocery store to add a little spring sunshine to my kitchen. Lately I’ve been choosing a color as my decorating focus.  I used a bit of coral and aqua to decorate a few rooms for spring. Today I chose yellow and blue.

It’s easier to decorate for the seasons when you choose a color scheme. It helps you stay focused, and often you’ll find small things you already have that fit in your color scheme, like these blue mason jars.

Or an aqua colored serving bowl that you can fill with pretty yellow lemons.

I found light blue kitchen towels with yellow lemons and put two of them together to create a makeshift table runner.

I added a small bouquet of faux yellow tulips on the open shelf. This has since been replaced with a kitchen hutch.

I swapped my wooden box that holds my cook books for a green wire basket.

I keep my favorite cookbooks out where they can inspire me.

In the window above the kitchen sink, I added a white box of yellow and purple pansies.

And on the counter, my new lemon and olive leaf candle. I thought this was such a pretty jar for a candle. When it’s done burning, I’m going to refill it with homemade scented candle wax.  Jar candles are pretty easy to make.

When decorating, I try to let one thing be my inspiration. For my spring farmhouse kitchen, that inspiration started with the lemon kitchen towels. The light blue polka dot pitcher fit right in, along with the yellow Gerbera daisies. I love these cheery flowers in all colors.

Are you enjoying the longer spring days? Our daffodils and scilia are poking their heads up in the yard and will soon be in bloom. It’s always an exciting time of year!

It’s a joy to watch things come up in the garden and start to fill in. Ahhhh – spring!
