Keeping It Simple at Christmas

This year I’ve vowed to keep it simple for Christmas. Our tree is smaller, I’m only using about half of my decorations, I don’t know if I’m even putting out my Santa collection. Instead, I’m focusing on greenery, vintage ornaments, and the philosophy that less is more.

Using ordinary items around the house, an ironstone dish becomes a vessel for vintage baubles.
To add a little Christmas greenery, I used Spanish moss instead of evergreens. Just for fun.

Do you think I’ll stick to my vow?
Only time will tell.

  4. Sweet, pretty Christmas touches; I, too, am doing bit less and loving the simplicity–a little greenery and burlap bows; small tree with white lights in a big wicker basket–and that’s about it. –okay; I may add some candles and bits of red here and there; lol. Love your post!

  5. Yes, I’m doing the same, Jennifer! I probably only used about 1/3 of what I’ve got, but I think I’m going to do a purge come January when the bins come back down. Some things can go because I haven’t used them for two years now. I think it’s because my tastes have changed. I’ll always keep certain items for their memories, but some of this stuff can go now.

  6. Everything is beautiful, I love the bowl the ornaments are in. I try and do less is more but I love Christmas so much I tend to go overboard but I like the way things look.

  7. Too funny, I started my “Less is more” decorating last night! The kids wanted to take out ALL the decorations and were disappointed when I said I’d be doing less this year. I even chose a color scheme (never have) of red, white and gray/silver. Hope I can stick to it, too! Your ornaments look beautiful in that lovely bowl!
