Maryland Farmhouse: Charming Home Tour

Lately I feel like every Sunday I say how much I love today’s home tour. Today is no different. I’m in love with the charming Maryland farmhouse that we’re going to tour. The interior decor is giving me ideas for my own home. Every tour I hope that you too, walk away with ideas and inspiration. It’s fun creating beautiful rooms that are comfortable and practical. Are you ready to step inside this gorgeous home that’s photographed by Rikki Snyder? She’s one of my favorite photographers on Houzz. (This post contains affiliate links.)

Do you see anything familiar in this room?  I used to have the same bamboo script mats in my house! I love the airiness of this room with its wall of windows, white slipcovered furniture, and green plants.

Directly behind the wicker chair is a collection of vintage sheep. The antique store down the street from us has vintage farm animals for sale. I envy having a sheep collection like this one.

A stunning stone fireplace flanked by white bookshelves takes center stage in the living room. Soft gray couches look comfy cozy for enjoying a fireside evening. Although the Maryland farmhouse uses a lot of neutral decor, it’s anything but boring.

The Maryland farmhouse kitchen is a composition in black and white. You’ll see a few beloved vintage sheep in the cabinets and on the shelves. My favorite brown vintage bottles make an appearance as well. What do you think of the framed flatware above the sink?

This is the first time I’ve seen such a magnificent range in a gorgeous green color. Green canning jars and vases line the shelf above. I just purchased my first French vintage green canning jar at Elsie Green and hope to create a small collection for my own kitchen shelves.

The butler’s pantry has more storage space and another range for cooking. Straw bags and hats add texture on the wall.

The beautiful dining room is dressed in gray and white, with a few vintage pieces and a stunning chandelier. Note the little topiary plants lined up on the window sill. The owners use a touch of live greenery throughout the home, which is good for filtering indoor air.

Did you notice the wood floors throughout the Maryland farmhouse?  I love the black dresser in the foyer by the staircase. I always like vintage black furniture when I see it in photos, but I’m afraid to add it in my own home. I think I need to step out of my comfort zone and give it a try.

Even the bathrooms wear charming vintage style. Note again the use of live plants.

I adore this antique bed! So pretty with the white chenille bedspread. The vintage teddy bear seems to enjoy it too. Remember when collecting old teddy bears was popular with the country style?

  1. Yes, you do find the best houses for us to drool over…ha! I saw lots of ideas that could be incorporated into my own home. Years ago, I worked for an interior decorator and she was dead set against using any kind of greenery. So many plants are good for the quality of air in the house.

  2. You give us good tours ALWAYS but this is the BEST! Thank you.
Don’t miss the large mirror framed in white in the dining room.
Tell me what you know about the low table that appears to be a coffee table or for children’s use, PLEASE.
You MUST buy a piece of black!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It makes everything look good in a room, every room needs some black just as every garden needs some gray. Suggest that you buy a can of spray paint in BLACK of your choose, shiny, flat, etc. and spray a flower pot, candle stick and sit this object around different areas of your home. You will see from this example what BLACK can do for a room. Evan a small set of black and white dishes would work in your new dinning room on a white table and/or with a white cloth. Love my black. Even a picture frame in black. Excited for you to discover it.

  3. Dear jennifer,
Our Tea Plantation bungalows ( Brits built and used them ) look very much like this in appearance and Furniture etc
    Thanks .

  4. Why do your pics have the save button for pinterest but won’t save? Keep getting the message “this site won’t allow pins”

    1. Hi Diane,

The photos from Houzz are embedded and can’t be pinned using the Save button. There’s a collage image at the end of the post that can be pinned, however. Any of my own photos on other posts can be pinned – it’s just the ones from Houzz that aren’t pinnable with the Save button.

  5. Add your black pieces! You do need two in my opinion.

When you find this black wicker chair share the source. I would like to buy one!!!! Gotta have one.

    Thanks for the tour.

Give us an update on your pond.

  6. Beautiful home! I have a little black in every room of my home except the bathrooms. Just a little, like the top of my coffee table or picture frames in the office, the light over the dining room table etc. It gives a sense of continuity to me.

  7. What a great place to live, love all the coziness in it and those vintage pieces of furniture and stove are so dreamy.

  8. Jennifer,
I liked this house, but I agree with the others…that some black adds great contrast.
Did you notice the sheep pillows on one of the grey sofas? It looks like there are little pictures of different types of sheep.
    Very cute.

  9. I love this warm home. I noticed a beautiful wood rocking chair in the bedroom with the black metal bed, and vintage dresser. I would love to buy a rocking chair like that. Is it an antique. Do you have a picture of the whole chair. Do you know where that chair came from. Thank you and thanks for all the beautiful pictures.
