Vintage Palmer Residence in Cedar Key

I fell in love with today’s featured home the minute I saw it!  Located in Cedar Key, Florida, this charming residence gives you everything you’d expect in an historic coastal style home. Plenty of vintage details paired with southern accents like two-story porches delight your eye at every turn.

Are you ready to step inside this stunning home with its multiple porches for a look around? It’s decorated by Rosenberg + Ginsberg Design out of Houston, Texas. They do beautiful work!

The foyer has a grand yet charming welcome to it. A seashell chandelier gives a nod to the location of this historic coastal home. Warm rich wood accents the staircase with bead board accents along the wall.

Off the entry is the office with a simple fishing theme. Note how the shades don’t cover the transom portion of the window, allowing ample natural light to flow. I have a thing for textured walls and love the mix of horizontal and vertical bead board. I’d love to do this in my family room to give it a bit more character.

The living room continues the fishing theme. A grey slip cover (which looks like linen) gives the room a soft, cool hue.  The wood ceiling is painted a haint blue, perfect for a southern home.

My favorite room in the Palmer residence is the kitchen! Once again, horizontal bead board adorns the wall. Wood floors warm the room and a partial brick wall adds texture.  The old school pendant lights add the charm of yesteryear.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a two-toned refrigerator, but I love this one!

The dining room is soft and elegant with its neutral tones and slip covered chairs.

Monogrammed pillows provide a personal touch in this dreamy bedroom.

While another bedroom features a statement bed designed to make you feel like a queen!

The claw foot tub reminds me of our upstairs bathroom with a similar tub and shower surround. I love that the Palmer residence keeps its ties to the past. There’s something special about a shower in a claw foot tub!

A pretty pedestal sink echoes the vintage bathroom vibe.

Back outside, a porch swing beckons you to while away a summer afternoon.

  2. Absolutely gorgeous! I’m in love with the porch swing and the blue porch ceiling. Wish I could have this year-round in Chicago.

  3. LOL – when I first saw this in my email, I thought it was going to be Layla and Kevin Palmer’s house. So when I opened it up and saw this, I gasped! Not that Layla’s house isn’t as cute as can be, it just isn’t this. The casual elegance of it, the paint colors, the vintage floor fan, the refrigerator, the brick wall with open shelving, the linens. So many gorgeous pictures. Only thing I didn’t like is the sea shell chandelier…not sure why but it creeps me out. Thank you for sharing this! Now I have to go back and Pin so many pictures! Oh yeah, and go visit Houzz.

  4. Aww! You had my attention when i saw those porches, just heavenly and then the kitchen. Makes me wonder how much money i would have to spend to get mine to look like that. Lol!!!

  5. Now, that, is a house I could live IN! Ha ha, who wouldn’t? But, seriously, in comparison to many Key homes I’ve seen and visited, this one is perfect.

  6. Cedar Key is not in the Florida Keys but about an hour from Gainesville. Thanks for all of your beautiful posts.

  7. I always look forward to your posts. They are so real and I live I. WI so can relate to some of the places.

    Thanks!

  8. I really like so many things about this house, especially the kitchen…very homey and unique. I grew up in North Florida, about 1.5 hours from Cedar Key. In fact, my parents honeymooned there in 1955:)

    Thanks for the post!

    Paula

  9. Have been to Cedar Key, Fll. many, many times for festivals and for 2 to 4 day stays. Live about 70 miles NW. I have never seen Palmer House. I will ask Pam & JD from McCormick Realty who we always have rented from where this house is. Thank you for the beautiful photos. Patty

  10. Thanks so much for your lovely post and write up. I’m the home’s owner and it is truly a blessing to have this 1888 treasure. It had been lovingly restored by a Gainesville architect and his wife, so that made our job much easier. We just filled it with family antiques and mementos. And oh, yes…Cindy Richter echoes a few others in her comment about the chandelier. People either love it or hate it; makes for interesting dinner party chats!

  11. When the link is shared, your description says, “In the beautiful Florida Keys.” Cedar Key is not located in the Florida keys, it’s about 500 miles north of there!

  12. The house was completely renovated and restored from 2000-2002 by Rob Blackwell and his brothers. Tom Tonnelier was the owner at the time. The craftsmanship from top to bottom inside and out was custom woodwork done by the Blackwells.

  13. Pinning so many things! Very lovely home. thanks for another enjoyable post to look at over and over.
