Starfish Cottage: Charming Home Tour

With a name like Starfish Cottage you know this tour is going to be a feast for the eyes, right?  A cottage and the beach … what’s not to love?  Kristy’s charming home brings a refreshing mix of pretty style and comfortable living. Beautiful blues (which I love) and airy coastal style flow throughout this inviting home. Take a peek and see for yourself …

Front Porch at Starfish Cottage

Kristy’s pretty front porch welcomes visitors and guests to her home, and gives a taste of what’s to come inside. Black and white graphic pillows give a modernly fresh feel to the white wicker furniture.

Front Door with Summer Wreath

A summer wreath adorns the front door with its full length window, which is great for letting in plenty of sunlight. Note the bleached starfish in the transom window above. A healthy fern softens the patio pavers underfoot.

Blue and White Entry Way

Blue and white ginger jars and vases greet you in the entry way. A white table skirt adds softness while a pair of fern fronds bring in a touch of the outdoors.

Living Room at Starfish Cottage

Kristy’s living room displays coastal style in several ways. A nubby tan rug on the floor replicates a sandy beach, with a collection of seashells on the coffee table. Comfy pillows on the couch reflect seaside colors while seashell displays on the wall echo the shells on the table. Mercury glass lamps and candlesticks add just the right touch of glamour.

Neutral Dining Room

Fresh white decorates the dining room with soft skirted chairs, an expansive bookshelf for showcasing favorite items, and pretty white dishes on the wall.  A elegant wood table houses beautiful hurricane lamps atop a neutral runner. Kristy’s dining room feels refreshingly feminine.

Cottage Style Kitchen

White bead board cabinets take center stage in the kitchen at Starfish Cottage. Touches of black create a bit of drama. I knew a woman who lived in an amazing historic home complete with turret who said every home should wear a touch of black. She must’ve known what she was talking about because her home was featured on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens many years ago.

A corner of windows hug the breakfast nook and allow more of that beautiful Florida sunshine to enter.

Family Room with Fish

Kristy adds a touch of whimsy to her family room with a fish mount on the wall crowning the TV screen. More green fronds make their way into this light-filled space. I love how Kristy runs a consistent beach theme through her home … perfect for a Florida residence!

Master Bedroom with Four Poster Bed

An amazing four-poster bed is the showpiece in Kristy’s master bedroom. Notice the carved detailing in the posts and headboard. Simple tan and white sheets add a slightly modern touch and allow the beauty of the bed itself to stand out.  Seashell prints on the wall follow the arch of the bed.

Master Bathroom

Rich cabinetry in the master bathroom echoes the tone of the wood from the bed. Kristy cleverly painted tan and white stripes in this room that match the stripes of the bedding. Taking a design element from one room to the next is a great way to tie living spaces together.

Beach Style Guest Bedroom

Finally, more color from the beach flows through the pretty guest bedroom with its buffalo check curtains and bed skirt.
