Summer Patio Decorating Ideas
We have a spot at the end of our very long driveway that I’d like to transform into a patio. I’ve got some ideas whirling around in my head to make the space livable and pretty. If you’re also looking for summer patio decorating ideas, consider these inspirational photos.
Add color and comfort. This beautiful patio from Maison de Pax includes a great mix of comfy textiles like throws and pillows, which also lend a touch of color.
Jennifer Rizzo tucked her summer patio into a lush corner of her yard. I’m lovin’ all the hostas in her backyard!
Sometimes simple is all you need. Cottage style lawn chairs cuddle a vintage table, all set on a simple pea gravel patio.
Not a fan of bright colors? Zevy Joy’s summer patio looks elegant dressed in beautiful neutrals. I love how she incorporated both a dining area and living space on her patio.
Include a fire pit on your patio. Shine Your Light created a pretty fire pit in the center of her gravel patio. And she shares instructions for installing the patio.
Add a canopy to your summer patio. I love the simplicity of this one – although I’m not so sure the white canvas would stay clean for long. But it sure looks pretty.

A fire element becomes a must if you plan to use your patio at night. We have a fire pit in our yard, and since it’s near the end of the driveway where I’d like to create a patio – I think we can tie the two spaces together.

This is my favorite patio – probably because of the view just beyond. I also like the lanterns and blankets. Perfect for cooler evenings!

What elements have you added to your summer patio to increase your outdoor enjoyment?
Lots of pretty ideas for dressing up the outdoor areas. The patio with the view is gorgeous. We need to take our fire pit apart and rework it.
Lots of options and ideas there! I get a chuckle out of the extravagantly staged outdoor spaces with outdoor beds, blankets, pillows etc. Even having an outdoor patio sofa is somewhat of a pain; taking the cushions etc. in and out because of the weather. Remember the saying K.I.S.S? I know that you’ll come up with something amazing!
I hear you, Deb! I am in upstate CNY- think between Syracuse NY and Utica. All the cushions and pillows go into the garden shed every night and when it rains. My deck off the house is already too hot after 10 AM, I have a small umbrella table and chairs there for early coffee and out with the dog. I am lucky to have a back yard cement patio- next to the shed-and over the last 6 years planted lots of shade trees and shrubs. Added a patio table with large umbrella, an outdoor sectional, coffee table and lots of potted flowers, etc. Love it.
Everything on a tight budget, too.
Jennifer, with the huge, awful fires in Canada, with the smoke covering a lot of the Northeast US , California and Oregon, the terrific heat in Texas, Louisiana and other states, actually the same has been going on in Russia, Siberia, for several years, fire pits and gas/wood/charcoal cooking or just for fun, has really lost its appeal for me. Just no fires of any kind can be justified anymore.
