Summer on the Front Porch

Summer is front porch sittin' time ... that is, if you're not at the beach, peddling a bike down a shaded trail, or enjoying a picnic with family and friends. When I have a few moments to myself, I love to sit out on our front porch. It's peaceful and shaded and perfectly situated to capture summer's breezes. For today's Humpdays with Houzz, I'm sharing a collection of refreshing summer porches.   Beach Style Porch by Chicago Interior … [Read more...]

Small Space Living Rooms

Lately I've turned a critical eye to both my living room and family room. Neither room is particularly large, but they're adjacent to each other with a fairly large doorway so the spaces feel spacious. Farmhouse decorating is really quite easy because the style is unpretentious, economical, and rather simple. Won't you join me on a tour of a few rooms in my home while I share a few summer farmhouse … [Read more...]

Spring Tiptoes through the Living Room

While we were getting 10 inches of snow outside, I was fluffing the living room with a few touches of spring. The longer days are cheering my spirits despite the fact that Old Man Winter is hangin' on for dear life. I brought in a few greens and changed the arrangement on the shelf above the loveseat. Look closely and you'll see our precious Puddy lurking in the dining room. He's our rescue kitty and he's been such a good little boy. We found … [Read more...]
