Thrift Store Makeover Challenge

Have you ever created a thrift store makeover from some little trinket you found at Goodwill or Thrift Savers? Have you ever had someone send you a flea market find to creatively re-purpose? Well, that’s exactly what a group of us bloggers did, thanks to a “Swap it Like It’s Hot” challenge from Charlotte at Ciburbanity. We each sent a thrift store find to someone and I can’t wait to see what everyone received and how they transformed their thrifty gifts. You’ll see the list of participants at the end of this post.

Basket of Baby Boos and Leaf Garland Create a Fall VignetteAre you ready to see the thrift store package I received from Bee at Windgate Lane?

Thrift Store Finds for Makeover ProjectBee sent me 2 candlesticks, a basket, and a silver tray.

When I opened the box I knew immediately what I was going to create with these items.

Fall Vignette from a Thrift Store MakeoverA little paint and hot glue, and a few hours later I have 2 pretty pedestal servers!

Two-Toned Basket Server Made from Thrift Store FindsI painted the candlesticks with leftover exterior paint – Rivulet by Sherwin Williams.

I also painted half the basket to give it a two-toned look.

Fall Vignette with Baby Boos and Leaf GarlandOnce the paint dried, I hot glued the candlestick to the bottom of the basket.

I used a thick layer of glue to make sure it would be sturdy.

Basket of Baby Boos and Leaf GarlandAll these Baby Boos are fairly heavy and the basket is staying put on the candlestick.

I wasn’t sure the hot glue was going to work, but I’m happy to say it did!

Fall Vignette created from thrift store findsI used the same paint for the little silver tray.

Once again I hot glued the candlestick to the tray after the paint dried.

Thrift store makeover becomes pedestal serversI now have 2 pretty pedestal servers. I can use them at Thanksgiving dinner to serve rolls, mints, etc.

A special thanks to Bee at Windgate Lane for sending me a great thrift store makeover package.

Head over to Happier Homemaker to see what I sent Melissa to transform!

  1. I LOVE the two-tone of the basket AND that you didn’t paint the inside of the tray! Those will look so great into spring and summer, too. WHY am I already thinking of spring and summer?! SO glad you joined the swap this go round!
