To Beadboard or Not to Beadboard

Personally, I feel you can never have too much beadboard in your house. It’s classic and fun all at once. It’s elegant yet cottage-chic. Beadboard lends a clean look to any room and is an easy way to add architectural detail to plain old walls. Shoot, you can even apply it to stock cabinetry, giving the everyday kitchen a customized look. I’ve got standard beadboard in my kitchen, and variations of it on my stairway and in one of my bathrooms. And now … I’m thinking it needs to go in the laundry room, as well. So I poked around the internet for beadboarded rooms to inspire me as I plan the laundry room makeover.

LOVE this laundry room … from the beadboard to the signs to the toilet paper in a wire basket
to the feathered lampshade. I think this decor would look great in my laundry room.
I’ve already got those baskets from Ikea, so I’m off to a good start.
Kitchens are a great place to add beadboard due to its ease in cleaning.
Note the matching beadboard on the backsplash and kitchen island.
Another kitchen island with beadboard. What’s not to love?
In my opinion, this is the perfect kitchen … from the beadboard to the white, green and blue dishes.
Clean and classic – beadboard as a backsplash.
Wide beadboard, apron sink, and subway tile.
It just doesn’t get any better than this!
This is one of the most beautiful bathrooms ever. Love that pop of turquoise!
Whether you choose vivid or soft colors, everything looks great with beadboard.
Crisp, white beadboard in the mudroom flanked by a Colonial Blue door.
Such a sweet scene. Move over, Teddy. I wanna take a nap.
Blue and orange with white beadboard. A favorite color combo of mine.
Good thing this room isn’t in my house or I’d sit here and read all day and nothing would get done.
I love houses with sets of drawers built into the walls like this.
A sweet girl’s room complete with a pig on the bed. Love this color scheme, too.
How about a sweet master bedroom instead?
Mmmm. This bedroom would do just fine, too. Another great color combo!
Oh, now this is just downright cool! A great way to use beadboard scraps.
If cool is what you want, look no further than this winding staircase wrapped in beadboard.
And finally, beadboard on the ceiling of a rustc stairway and hall.
It looks great anywhere. Do you have any beadboard in your home?

  1. I love beadboard and have it in my bathroom. My bathroom is similar to the one you pictured. I painted light green above the beadboard and then painted the outside of my clawfoot tub the same color. You can see it in my post “All through the house”.
    Happy New Year.

  5. Jennifer you’re right, I enjoy seeing beadboards scattered in a home, I’m not to sure how they will work out on concrete walls here in the Bahamas.

  6. I love beadboard, I actually have it on my basic cabinets, and I added crown molding to the the top of the cabinets too, I think it looks great. I think you’d like pallet walls too, it gets that thicker wood plank look!

  7. I love the beadboard look as well, especially the nautical white beadboard with the light blue with the starfish. That really caught my eye. It made me want to move in immediately.
