Where’s My Christmas Snow?

Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I’m definitely not a winter person. I like butterflies and warm breezes with the sun on my face. But when it comes to Christmas, it might as well snow so you get the full, magical effect of the holiday season. The forecast isn’t showing much hope for Christmas snow between now and Christmas Day, so I thought I’d find a few snowy scenes over at Houzz to enjoy.

Red houses always seem to look good in snow. This one has winter sports equipment on the porch.

Every winter I tell myself I’m going to get snow shoes to help me enjoy the season more.

But each year I never follow through on the snow shoes.

A light dusting of fresh snow paves the way to the front door.

Will snow arrive at my doorstep by Christmas morning?

The weatherman says we might get snow on Christmas Eve.

But truth be told, once Christmas is over I’m ready for the snow to be gone!

  1. The house near the lake is just wonderful…..i dream a house like this !!!!!!!
Merry Xmas to you and your family.
    Excuse me for my english……….

  2. Hi Jennifer,
Yes we have a little snow and it may or may not be here for Christmas Day. Snow is the norm for this part of Canada. I live on the shores of Lake Huron and the edge of the water is just a short walk to the end of our street. Last year was the coldest winter that I can ever remember. We faced power outages which means no heat and by the end of it all we were glad to see the snow go. This year so far is gentle in comparison. I like you love it on Christmas Day but after that it can go. Merry Christmas and enjoy your holidays.

    1. Kim, it sounds like you live in a very beautiful place! I would love to live on a lake. Our winter last year was brutal too, but we didn’t lose power. Have a Merry Christmas!

    1. Thanks for stopping by Kathryn! The snow is pretty when it’s fresh and white, but I think the green grass looks better. 😉

  3. Love looking at a white Christmas-I have never had one since I live by the beach in CA, but I really like to look. We will go to the snow in Tahoe over Break but none at our home. Thanks for the beautiful pictures!

    1. Hi Darrielle! That’s nice you can head to the mountains for your snow. That way you can enjoy it when you want and don’t have to live with it. 😉

  4. I love the 4th pic with the stone fireplace on the porch. On my parts of the Canadian Prairies we have enough snow now to make everything white and hoar frost today making all the tree branches and everything white which is always beautiful! I am with you though on being done with snow once Christmas is over but alas we usually have snow for another 3-4 mths. Which gives me lots of time to draw up my wrap around porch plans that some of your pics give me good ideas for. Thanks!

  5. Oh wow! Are these ever gorgeous scenes and homes. I’d love to live in any of them. At least we have the snow here around our humble abode although we may get rain for Christmas day. Thanks for sharing these beautiful homes. Merry Christmas!

    1. Merry Christmas to you too, Pamela! We might be getting rain too. The weather has been pretty gray around here lately.

  6. I am missing the snow too! I’m a winter girl so love the cold, but all it’s been here is gloomy and foggy and dreary. It’s been so depressing with no sun. Also hard to take photos with no sun…Where’ the sun, has it been out you way, if so send it south, please.. Loved all the photos, and I’d take the one by the lake

    1. Hi Cathy, unfortunately we’re having the exact same weather as you. Ugh. I just keep telling myself I’d rather have the gray than those super cold blustery days. I’m trying to stay positive. 🙂

  7. I live in The Netherlands and we have very windy and rainy weather with extremely high temperatures. In my mom’s garden the snowdrops are almost blooming. I don’t like this windy weather, fortunately it will be sunny and a little cooler on Christmas Day.
    Merry Christmas!

    1. Hi Annemarie! Oh, how I love snowdrops! I won’t be seeing any of those for about another 4 months. Have a Merry Christmas!

  8. I’m disappointed that we don’t have snow, too. It’s pretty unusual to be this warm and NO SNOW at this time of year here in Chicagoland! But we should probably enjoy the near-balmy, dry weather while it lasts. Cause we know what’s in store! Have a wonderful holiday.
