Yankee Barn Carriage House: Charming Home Tour

I’m always on the lookout for beautiful, unique homes to feature every Sunday and I have a special Yankee Barn Carriage House to share with you today. Yankee Barn Homes are built with a sturdy post and beam frame. Today we’re touring their Bennington Carriage House with 1,142 square feet of living space. (All photos courtesy of Yankee Barn Homes.)

You know I love red houses and this one doesn’t disappoint. Even the location of this charming home is breathtaking.

The Bennington Carriage House has a convenient, open floor plan. The main living space is on the second floor with the garage and storage areas on the first floor. The living areas are beautiful no matter what angle the view.

Rich wood creates the post and beam frame while expansive windows allow ample natural light to flow in. Note the use of posts to define the dining area. No matter where you sit, you have a stunning view outside.

The kitchen uses traditional cabinetry – the glass front cabinet mimics the adjacent mullioned window. Lights are tucked near a beam for functional work space lighting.

The living room is spacious with architectural appeal. Carriage houses make perfect guest or vacation homes, but they serve equally well as a primary residence. I love the coziness of the Bennington Carriage House – even though it has soaring ceilings.

Rich, wood floors are found throughout the Yankee Barn carriage house adding plenty of warmth. Can you imagine waking up each morning to a forested view from this bedroom?

The bathroom is tastefully decorated in neutral tones and I love the option of a hand-held shower.

Outside, you’ll find a beautiful tea house for entertaining or relaxing. Wrap around windows make you feel like you’re right outside, without the challenge of fighting off bugs.

Inside, you’ll find the same post and beam frame. So many things you could do with this pretty space. I think I would use it as a dining and living space for reading a favorite novel or enjoying meals with friends and family.

  1. Yup, needs a fireplace…other than that, almost perfect. It is very charming and the views are fabulous.

  2. Beautiful – however, not for me because I’D NEVER LEAVE THE HOUSE. Would have to have food and everything else delivered. :>)
