11 Table Settings for Every Occasion

‘Tis the season for wining and dining and holiday entertaining! Set a casual table, or a grand table filled with bling. Whatever you choose, there’s no need to stress over table settings. I’ve got eleven examples that will give you inspiration to plan your next gathering with friends and family.

One of my favorite recent table settings is this one that pairs vintage books with gilded vases filled with colorful flowers from the garden. The napkin rings are handmade using a strip of book paper shaped into a loop, with a paper flower glued on top. No need to spend money on fancy ones.

I love the shade of green in this Modern Country style table setting. A few pine cones from the yard add a little rusticity.

Green and White Tablescape

Although I shared this table setting as a spring tablescape, it could be used any time of the year. Green fronds combine with burlap and mercury silver to create an elegant yet earthy feel.

There are two things I especially love about this pink and green place setting; the shape of the plates, and the sweet little flowers and ribbons winding their way around the edges.

One of the first table settings I featured on my blog was this one for Thanksgiving. It’s one of my favorite fall centerpieces with gourds of all shapes coddled by landscape burlap in a wooden box.

Add color to any table with place mats or chargers. Vintage bottles, candles, and wine corks get stuffed in a small crate that serves as a centerpiece.

Combine candles and natural elements to create a no-fail centerpiece for your next tablescape. Use berries, branches, and flowers that reflect the season.

Gold elements always add a touch of elegance to the table. I like to add organic elements like ruby red pears to keep the look a little grounded.

At Christmas, red and white table settings are always a classic choice.

  1. You asked what are some ways I’ve set the table. Two of my most favorite ways are using my amber depression glass dinner ware and accessories. It’s vintage and the color is fabulous for the season. My most unique Thanksgiving setting was using my grandmother’s Currier and Ives, blue and white. She had dinner platters along with the dinner plates. The platters are perfect for the copious amounts of feasting foods. I’ll try to find pics and send them some day 😀
