9 Cozy Living Rooms That Feel Like Fall

When it comes to fall decorating, I think most of us see stems of fall foliage in vases, maybe a leaf garland or wreath, and plaid blankets in warm colors. Today I’ve collected nine cozy living rooms that feel like fall even though they’re not overly decorated for the season.

Wood paneled walls immediately create a sense of cozy comfort. This room takes the warmth factor one step further by incorporating hues of yellow and orange. The circle patterned rug is a fun touch, and note how the corner lamp repeats the circle them with its contemporary stand.

Other than a pair of blue club chairs, this room is washed in the colors of fall, from the rust-colored couch to the patterned curtains and creamy yellow walls. A crackling fall adds to the autumnal ambiance.

This cozy living room features a more neutral vibe for the season but still feels warm with its large, stone fireplace, wood ceiling, and sectional sofa with brown and gold pillows. Swapping out pillows is an easy way to update a room for every season or any holiday.

Plaid + leather = fall at its finest. Add a landscape painting with a golden tree and you’re ready for cooler days and nights. Like pillows, swapping artwork out for the seasons is another easy way to update your interior spaces, although a bit more expensive. I previously shared this Colorado home tour on the blog if you want to see more photos of its warmth and beauty.

Fall decorating doesn’t have to scream bold colors. Here, a mostly white room feels like fall with a simple plaid blanket and a couple colorful pillows. Framed botanic stems allude to golden fields outside.

Warm woods, leather furniture, a blazing fire, and a large landscape painting create the perfect backdrop for cozying up with a book and mug of hot cider on an autumn day.

A rust-colored chair and mustard yellow leather sofa join forces to create a cozy nook in a Southwestern-style living room. Outside you can see the leaves turning to a a glorious gold.

A vintage fireplace takes center stage between two plaid chairs and floral curtains dressed in fall colors. Apples picked fresh from the tree wait to be enjoyed.

Finally, a deep red wall surrounds a fireplace in an Early American home. For some reason, primitive rooms always feel like fall to me. Maybe it’s their rustic elements.

How are you adding fall to your interior spaces this year? So far, I’ve updated some bedding and added a fresh bouquet of sunflowers. I’d love to hear what you’re doing!

And don’t forget – there’s still time to enter the giveaway for a handcarved charcuterie board from Polder’s Old World Market. You can see the details here.

  1. Thanks for the Fallish rooms. Love the vintage look room although the “doll people” on the fireplace were a bit creepy 🤣
I tell you what says “FALL” to me, still after all these years? Yankee Candle’s “Spiced Pumpkin!!” It is my first Fall go to. Fact is I keep them open throughout the year in the closet where I store them, just to enjoy their wonderful Fall scent!
In my Fall decorating, it’s Fall to me as soon as I light that first Spiced Pumpkin candle…Even if the temperature gauge is still reading 95 here in Ocala FL! 😉

  2. That goose and those wood candle sticks are so simple on that mantle but look great.
Leather in that cognac color add so much richness to a room but boy it’s not my first chair I’d want to sit in on a cold day..or a hot steamy one at that…..the feel to me is just either too cold or sticky depending on the season but I love the look in a room.
Thanks for sharing this fall warmth…soon it will be much colder..today 90!
