A Backyard Patio Lounge for Outdoor Entertaining

We’re havin’ a heat wave here in the Chicago area. Our temps went from hovering around zero degrees to a balmy 40 degrees almost overnight! In honor of our weather improvement, I’m featuring a backyard patio lounge by DeGoey Designs that’s perfect for entertaining a small group or just hanging out with your significant other.

The mini sectional looks comfy and cozy and I love how natural grasses are wedged behind the sofa, softening the look of the fence. I would’ve never thought to do that.

Check out the coffee table – the top opens up to reveal a place for storage. Or in this case, a bucket of ice which holds favorite beverages. It reminds me of my family room coffee table.

A wheeled bar cart provides space for food, drinks, and anything else that might fit. The hanging baskets add to the garden vibe. I like how the wood art is affixed to the exterior wall of the house. It’s like adding artwork on a wall inside your home.

Candles are placed inside painted wire orbs for lighting and ambiance. It’s a good thing the votives are tucked inside glass so the flames don’t burn the grasses.

Lots of potted plants create a tropical vibe while a corner patio fence adds privacy. An outdoor rug makes the backyard patio lounge feel like a room inside your house. I really like the look of this and now I’m thinking how I can create something similar on my deck by the pond. I need to stop looking at inspirational photos before I go broke!

  1. I love everything about this outdoor space. The coffee table is genius. We hit 55 degrees in Indiana yesterday and the weather just made you feel like dancing a jig. I know it was just a tease, but I enjoyed it immensely. I’m ready to spruce up my patio for outdoor enjoyment.

  2. I’m like you…gotta stop looking at these spaces… almost TOO inspiring!
PS: Wish that I could send our FL warm weather and open state to you guys 🙁

  3. Yep Indiana feelin’ some heat this week! So welcomed! I’m with you Jennifer, I’m looking at all the spring/summer inspiration buying things to keep my spirits up. It’s so odd to read “open Florida up”…this pandemic has put us all out of sorts. Who would have ever thought this mess would happen? Oh dear. Anyway…I’m Pinning this not only for the seating idea but the hanging plants, candles, art hanging (outdoors no less), the walls created for privacy, the wheat grass and those planters! I’m searching flowers and plants for pots now. I wish I had a small greenhouse just so I could pot some trees for the patio and just place them in the greenhouse when winter arrives. I already have 3 Crape Myrtles in my garage wintering warmly and hubby is not happy about me potting more trees that will need a spot in the garage for next winter. I saw a beautiful dappled willow that would be oh so nice on our patio…hmmm maybe? Stay warm Jennifer!

  4. I love this outdoor patio space. It is so colorful and comfy. We reached 72 degrees on Wednesday, and 65 yesterday in Tennessee, after 5 inches of snow last week. Crazy weather. Thanks, Jennifer.
