A French Lamb Sign for My Farmhouse Kitchen

For the longest time I’ve been on the hunt for a cow picture for the kitchen. Since I want to keep a farmhouse feel in this part of the house, what better way to accomplish this than with a farm animal? I found lots of beautiful cow paintings for hundreds of dollars but as usual, I was looking for a bargain … and I found one!  But when given the option of choosing a cow, lamb or pig … in the end I opted for the lamb.

French Lamb PictureThe lamb picture has soft colors and is just the right size. It also has a worn appearance which I love.

Farmhouse Kitchen 3This isn’t exactly the spot I had envisioned for my farm animal friend but it does fit perfectly here.

Farmhouse Kitchen 4A spring vignette atop the bead board cabinet welcomes the lamb to the kitchen.

Farmhouse Kitchen 6A couple rusty birds lend their support in bringing spring to my farmhouse kitchen.

Farmhouse KitchenMorning sunshine filled the kitchen today as it warmed up to 50+ degrees outside. It was a welcome relief after the cold and snow. Our Easter weekend is going to be very enjoyable with more sunshine and temperatures hovering in the upper 50s.

Farmhouse KitchenWhile I was hanging the lamb picture, I reflected on the fact that it was Good Friday and the Lamb of God sacrificed His life for the salvation of the world. Although the crucifixion was tragic, it’s hard to be too melancholy on Good Friday when you believe in the power and miracle of the resurrection.

Farmhouse Kitchen 2The oversized grapevine wreath reminds me of the crown of thorns Jesus wore when He was crucified.

Farmhouse Kitchen 5And so it seemed apropos that I should hang my lamb sign on Good Friday.

White Ironstone Pitchers 2Continuing the farmhouse theme, 3 white ironstone pitchers were added to the little shelf next to the lamb sign.

Farmhouse Kitchen 10I will never tire of white ironstone. I bid on a couple more of these pieces on Ebay and hope I don’t win them all. Sometimes I get carried away and breathe a sigh of relief when I get outbid. Does that ever happen to you?

French Lamb SignIn case you’re wondering, I found the wooden French Lamb sign at Antique Farm House for just $22. They only carry limited supplies and sell them at a lower price so they tend to run out quickly.  Their shipping costs are very reasonable so I like to buy from them.

Hope you enjoy a Happy and Blessed Easter with your loved ones!
