Book Lover’s Table Setting

Before you know it, the holidays will be here and it’ll be time to set a pretty table. Today I’m happy to join a group of creative bloggers to bring you a round of tablescapes to give you ideas for a holiday setting. Of course, you don’t need a special event to set a nice table. Make any day a special occasion with these ideas. I’ve chosen to share a Book Lover’s Table Setting with you. Links to the other bloggers are at the end of the post.

My table is set for a festive, intimate luncheon. Pops of pink mix with gold and vintage books.

On the door hangs a fun heart-shaped wreath made of book pages.

The last of the zinnias from my garden are on the table. Soon I’ll have to purchase flowers from the store.

A book page garland adorned with crystals is draped across the built-in cupboard. In a previous blog post, I share how to make your own book page garland.

Of course, you have to include a few vintage books in a Book Lover’s Table Setting.

Book pages create a makeshift table runner. I thought about gluing the pages together to make a neat and tidy runner, but then decided to just lay the pages down in a bit of a haphazard pattern. Gold-dipped vases add a little elegance.

A fluffy pink zinnia adds just the right touch of color.

Gold polka-dot salad plates add a little fun to my Book Lover’s Table Setting.

Because this table setting is devoted to books, I made napkin rings with strips of book pages, and then taped a paper flower on top for a bit of color.

My placemats are simply squares of corrugated paper.

I really had fun putting this Book Lover’s Table Setting together.  I find it’s easier to set the table when you have a theme or color scheme in mind, so I plan ahead what it’s going to look like and use items I already have on hand.

Finally, I created a complementary vignette on a small side table with more vintage books and another gilded vase filled with zinnias.

I hope you enjoyed my festive Book Lover’s Table Setting. And I hope you can take away some ideas for your table settings during the upcoming holiday season.

  1. I love this for book club gatherings. Also, think I’ll save it and pass it along to my teacher friends to use as lounge decor, or, as a centerpiece for those long library tables we use during teacher appreciation week for luncheons and special treats.
