Branch and Vine Spring Wreath: How To
It appears to be craft week here at Town and Country Living because I’m back with a branch and vine spring wreath tutorial to brighten any wall or door.
We have lots of fallen twigs and branches in the yard so I figured, why not put them to good use and create something pretty?
I’m joining several blogging friends today to offer a variety of spring wreath tutorials. A special thanks goes out to Krista at The Happy Housie for organizing today’s fun!
To make a branch and vine spring wreath, cut 1-inch diameter branches into 2 feet lengths. You’ll need a total of 6 cut branches. Drill a hole through each end of 4 of the branches.
Lay one branch end over the other and feed a piece of twine or florist wire through the holes. Wrap the twine around the ends to secure them, creating a square.
Take the remaining two branches and lay one over the other to form an equal cross. Wrap twine or florist wire around the intersection of the branches to form the center cross (like a window). Then use the twine to secure the cross section to the square base.
Now comes the fun part! Take longer pieces of grapevine and wrap them haphazardly around the square windowpane shape of your wreath. Let it look a little messy. You don’t need to use wire or glue to secure the grapevine. The vines are pliable and will hug the branches.
Add your greenery next. I cut apart floral sprays and use a hot glue gun to attach the greenery and flowers to the wreath base.
Attach a bird nest in the lower left hand corner using florist wire. Most craft stores sell the bird nests with the wire already attached to the nest. I bought mine at Michael’s.
Finally, hot glue a small feathered bird atop the inside branch.
You can attach a loop of twine or florist wire to the top branch to make your branch and vine spring wreath easier to hang. Now you can enjoy your unique, handmade wreath – or give it as a gift to a friend!

Oh Jennifer. I’m loving this soooo much. I’m making it for sure. I have all the materials too. Thanx.
Thanks, Elaine! I’m glad you like it. It’s a fun wreath to make – something a little different.
Very pretty Jennifer and different from the average wreath. Love it. Our home is built on an old lot and not one tree. Believe it??
I love how organic this wreath is. There is something so fairytale about it. xo
This is such a creative and pretty wreath! I love the natural touches, Jennifer!
Love how you made this beautiful spring wreath. The branches are perfect! Pinned! xoxo
Very clever and so pretty, never would have imagined such a wonderful wreath.
I love this SO much, Jennifer! How smart to put those branches to good use! xoxo
What a cute wreath Jennifer! It’s so springy and fun!
What a great idea to use what you have from your own yard, Jennifer! It’s adorable!
Thanks Jennifer, it’s so romantic.
Jennifer, what a pretty wreath! I love square wreaths and yet I always forget to consider grabbing one when I am selecting my wreath form! It’s so fun participating in this series with you! I’ve pinned your wreath to my favorite wreath board to share with others!
