Cabin Getaway: Inspiration and Locations to Make It Happen

After the holidays I tend to dream of a cabin getaway where I can hole up for a couple of days with a book or stack of favorite magazines in hand. Just give me a little place where I can turn off the noise and activity while enjoying a bit of nature. You know, a couple of days where you don’t have to wake up at a certain time or head off to run errands.

You don’t have to travel far to enjoy a day or two to yourself. You’ll find a lot of cozy getaways in your neck of the woods. I’ve listed sources at the end of this post to make it easy to find one you like in your area.

A log cabin feels especially cozy when the snow is falling outside. Be sure to choose one with a fireplace to warm your toes after a day out snowshoeing or exploring in your boots.

I once spent a couple days alone in a cabin at a nearby state park. I was working on writing a book for my job and got a good start on it. I enjoyed the solace even though it felt a little strange at first.

This cozy cabin is located at Camp Denali inside Denali National Park in Alaska. The views are amazing and a stay here would certainly be refreshing and inspiring.

I love the garden outside this charming log cabin. Communing with nature is always one of my favorite things to do on a getaway.

A lakeside cabin getaway is always a plus, especially if you enjoy fishing or kayaking. I love its mustard yellow color.

Don’t rule out a tiny home for your cabin getaway. It could be a fun experience.

If a cabin getaway is speaking to you, be sure to check your local state and national parks for on-site lodging. They’re generally inexpensive and readily available during the winter season.

  1. My husband and I are currently looking for a cabin to get away from the hustle and bustle. I have always dreamed of living in the mountains. Life seems easier and a slower pace. Thanks for helping to continue our dream.
