Vintage Fall Mantel with Brown Bottles

Although it's not officially fall, the autumn decorating season in the blogger world has begun! Last week I joined Taryn Whiteaker and a few other ladies for a DIY fall project. Today I'm joining a slightly larger group to share more seasonal decor. See how to create a vintage fall mantel with old brown bottles and baby boos! Decorate Your Unused Glass Bottles

A couple months ago I shared a post about some gray-painted glass bottles that I had purchased from a local flea market vendor. I tried making a couple myself and one of my readers asked if I could share the tutorial. If you have any unused glass bottles laying around, consider decorating them instead of throwing them out. They don't need to be vintage bottles ... just find a few with interesting shapes. When it comes to painting and distressing … [Read more...]

Dirty Little Bottles

Yes, I'm actually writing about dirty little bottles because it has a cute story. This is just a quick post to share some little treasures that I found this past weekend at our local flea market. The Kane County Flea Market is held the first weekend of each month, and is one of the largest in the area. Lots of vendors, lots of shoppers, and plenty of goodies. Definitely too hot for that! So here are some of the things I've accomplished the last couple weeks. The new oil painting was … [Read more...]

Some Women Like Shoes. I Like Bottles!

Been workin' on a few more bottles. Trying different looks and different techniques so creativity doesn't get in a rut. Speaking of ruts, I saw a couple of bottles in ruts by the side of the road while I was out for my morning run. I've gotta remember to go back and get 'em ... you know, just doin' my part to keep the roadside clean! I found these bottles at my secret garbage dump. Cute shapes crying for a makeover. The French labels are, of … [Read more...]

Itty Bitty Bottles

Lately I've been lovin' bottles. I seek them out in boutiques. I search for them in flea markets. I hunt for them in the little dump in a hidden location at the forest preserve down the street from my house. I can't get enough! My hope is to alter enough of them in a pretty enough style to sell them. I keep practicing, finding ideas wherever I can. At the same time, I'm practicing photography skills. So this post is a combination of the two.The … [Read more...]
