Rub a Dub Dub: A Claw Foot Tub

What really sold me on our house when touring it for the first time, was the claw foot tub in the downstairs bathroom. I had always wanted one and there it sat, in all its glory. Upon further exploration, we found another one in the upstairs bathroom. One day soon, I’ll take photos of each … but not until I get a new camera. It’s been frustrating trying to get sharp, indoor images with my Canon PowerShot. So tomorrow, I’m heading over to the camera store to buy a new Nikon! Can’t wait. But for now, here are a few claw foot tubs to whet the whistle until I can figure out the new camera, and if it stresses me out … well … I’ll just have to relax in a claw foot bubble bath.

Hello!? Is this the perfect bathroom, or what? Double doors part to let you cross
the wood floor and enjoy a bubble bath under a simple chandie and ornate mirror.

Early morning sunlight spilling through a filmy curtain creates a magical place to start the day.
Warm wood and glowing candles create the perfect retreat on a snowy day.
In fact, I wanna crawl in that tub right now.
Love the pop of red in this neutral bathroom. The rustic armoire provides wonderful texture.
Simple elegance makes for an inviting bathroom spa. Worn wooden floors and chair mingle
beautifully with china plates and stained glass windows.
One of the great things with claw foot tubs is the ability to paint them any color of the rainbow.
Would you ever choose a purple tub?
Or perhaps French Country Blue is more your style.
Which bath is your favorite? I think I’ll take the silver one in celebration of the holidays.

  1. I am totally a claw foot tub girl. Actually, I should say that I am totally a bath girl and love claw foot tubs. The old farmhouse we lived in when I was a girl had one – someday I plan to remodel my bathroom and put one in here. Until then, all your photos are drool worthy 🙂

    CHRISTmas Blessings!

  2. I grew up in a very old farmhouse with a claw foot tub, so they are total nostalgia for me. If I were to begin every morning in the bathroom of the first picture I’d be late every day! Just couldn’t rush a bath in a setting that gorgeous!

  3. It would be so nice to have a soak in one of those tubs. I like the tub in the second shot with the high back but I like the look of the white bathroom in the first shot. Thanks for the visit, have a great week!

  4. Please let us know how you like your new Nikon. I am deliberating right now and I have the same Canon as you. It is great for close-ups, but I have trouble doing distance shots…they fuzz up.

Yes, clawfoots rule! I had one for 24 years in my old Cambria country cottage. The water goes in steaming hot and stays hot, unlike other tubs. I love how they fit the human body.

I am hoping to fix up our bathroom at our summer cottage in Maine and a clawfoot is on the horizon for me.

    Love the photos,

  5. I am very late to visit and to say thank you for linking up to my Pinning and Singing party-I am so sorry! I have been a bit pre-occupied with my 12 Days of Christmas series on my Christmas blog! Have you been by to visit? I would be so thrilled if you did-there’s lots of Christmas inspiration over there!

Thanks again for linking up and sharing these great bathroom pins! I love clawfoot baths and dream of getting one for our bathroom…one day!

Best Christmas wishes and happy pinning!
