Kitchen Stools for Breakfast Bar
Many years ago my parents gave me a kitchen island, without kitchen stools, as a housewarming gift. I had just purchased my own home as a single mom of three school-aged children. Sure, I’d bought a home with my first husband, but this home (my current home) was my very own. Being a single parent with three mouths to feed, I didn’t have a lot of spare cash at the time and appreciated their gift of a small yet handy island for my old-fashioned kitchen.
The kitchen island my parents brought over, much to my surprise, is cute but short on storage space. I’m tired of feeling cramped when it comes to kitchen supplies and utensils and finally broke down and purchased my new kitchen island that I shared a couple weeks ago.
One side of the island has a drop leaf that lifts up for counter seating. The only problem is, my stools are too tall. So, I either cut the legs or take this opportunity to choose new kitchen stools.
I searched on Houzz for new ideas for kitchen stools – you know they sell stuff on Houzz, right? Here are a few of my favorites; like these cross-back stools that I adore.

I recently saw these industrial style stools at a local boutique. I wanted to take two of them home with me, but they’re $500 each! I think I can find a better bargain.

Lately I’m drawn to real wood furniture and these Scandinavian beauties caught my eye.
Stools with a back are a little more comfortable, don’t you think?
Honestly I’m amazed at all the different styles of kitchen stools are out there.

If you’re a bold decorator, you might like to punch things up with orange stools!
I like these simpler stools, too. And they’re adjustable in height, which is a nice feature.
Upholstered stools look great in a more elegant kitchen.

But I need something simpler in my farmhouse kitchen.

Maybe something simpler like country style wooden stools.

Textured beach-style kitchen stools might be fun too.
But I’m still drawn to cross-back stools. If I can find them for a good price, this is probably what I’ll choose – unless hubby insists on cutting the legs down on our current flea market stools.

I like what you chose and good luck with finding them cheaper. I did this about 3yrs. ago and it is hard to decide.
Get the criss cross with the backs ! Much more comfortable and farmhouse look !!!
A few years ago we bought a new house that had a counter. I spent a lot of time researching stools. My advice is to choose something with a back and one that is comfortable.Ordering online can make it tricky to try them on for size. I ended up getting a stool from a local furniture store. They were a cross-back style similar to the ones you like. The seat is square and ample in size so I can sit at the counter to do reading or writing. Some of those metal or wooden stools with a smaller sized seat just aren’t very comfortable for any length of time. I am short so a bigger stool gives me something to grab onto as a hike my way onto them. Good luck. I am sure you will pick out something great.
