Surprising Turquoise Sink: The Secret of This Happy Retro Kitchen

You can’t deny that the first thing you notice about today’s retro kitchen is the surprising turquoise sink. Then your eye falls to the floor to discover a charming vintage tile floor and you suddenly find yourself smiling at its beauty. This is one of the prettiest kitchens I’ve seen. I like that it’s on the smaller side yet still packs a lot of style. The sink is amazing and the floor is a worthy match, not to mention the Shaker style cabinets and vintage hardware.

A more panoramic view reveals the overall size and design of the happy space. Green walls combine with white cabinetry and subway tile to create a vintage-feeling kitchen. The layout is efficient and includes a breakfast bar with pretty pendant lighting.

Through the arched doorway you can see that the stove has a pot filler. If this were my house, I’d spend as much time in this retro kitchen as possible. Even the vent in the ceiling has a vintage vibe.

Wednesday I featured patterned floors in bathrooms so it seems only fitting to continue that trend with a retro kitchen that follows suit.

The large window over the turquoise sink allows plenty of daylight.

On the other side of the retro kitchen is a large, built-in cabinet painted black. I’m guessing the refrigerator is concealed behind a cabinet door, either here or elsewhere.

I had a smaller sink like this (in white) in the first home I ever owned. I loved it and had a cabinet built underneath to fit it perfectly, rounded corners and all.

  2. Oh, my heart be still!!! From the cabinets stretched aaaaaaaaaall the way to the ceiling, to that beautifully tiled floor, and of course the sink (and did you notice that faucet?) I think this is my absolute favorite kitchen in all of blog land! Thanks for this perfect post, Jennifer. A wonderful way to end my Saturday morning coffee time, before I get up off the couch and start my day. You put the sunshine in this gloomy midwestern morning!
