Colorful Country Home in Upstate New York

country style, home decor, home tour November 28, 2021

Today’s charming home hails from Upstate New York and was built in 1849, so it has all the charm of yesteryear. Inside, it’s filled with colorful flea market finds and outside. This colorful country home photographed by Rikki Snyder has a view of Vermont’s Green Mountains.

A chippy blue hutch above takes center stage in the family room next to a cushy chaise lounge. A stained glass window hanging on the wall hints at the color you’ll find throughout the home.

The other side of the family room holds the TV . A rustic coffee table on wheels allows easy moving so snacks can be served and rolled closer to any seating space in the room.

Floral fabric adorns the dining room chairs and provides an interesting and eclectic contrast to the brick walls and rustic wood floors. White walls keep the room from becoming overpowering.

A built-in white cabinet with green glass knobs provides storage in the dining room.

The kitchen has been renovated and showcases warm wood cabinets in an industrial chic style.

Flea market treasures and architectural details fill the living room with personality.

An antique wooden hutch shows off a collection of vintage finds. Wide plank floors reveal the older age of this charming home in Upstate New York.

I love the wide hallways you often find on second floors in older homes. The ornate railing adds to the charm and appeal.

The 4-post master bed is loaded with comfy pillows. Taupe walls add warmth while white trim adds a crisp, fresh look.

An under-the-eaves bedroom is loaded with soft textiles, from the flowing bed skirt to the fringed pillows to the thick down comforter at the foot of the bed.

The exterior of this charming home in Upstate New York is Greek Revival style, but did you notice the handles on the front double door? Yep, painted pitchforks!!

So. Every once in a while, I see a décor photo so awesome that it has my jaw dropping, + in this house, it was that very charming nursery! The mantel, the iron crib, the Cat’s Paw (Dash + Albert) rug! etc. etc. etc. Most of all, I’m inspired to use COLOR in our Dutch colonial re-do! I’m “over” the all-white interiors!

Hi Jillian! I had to laugh when I read your comment because I too have been avoiding Christmas blog overload. I do have my Christmas home tour coming up soon though – so be forewarned. LOL.   🙂

What a charming home! Like Stacey says here, “great creative uses for old things” I loved this. I always want to try to use the things I already have to be creative, that’s my ongoing goal anyways. Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Such a lovely cozy home. I love that big wide upstairs hallway and am already dreaming of how I would turn it into my office/library. Also, love the collection of little painted chairs scattered about. I’m keeping this post so I can go back and visit. Thanks for the fun little trip!
