Around Geneva: Christmas Porches and Doors

The sun came out for a change today, so I grabbed my camera at lunch and took a walk around town practicing some shots. In my recent post about claw foot tubs I mentioned I was getting a new camera. So with my new Nikon D3000 in hand, I braved the cold knowing the sun would wash out the colors a bit.

I’ve admired this house since I can remember. It’s worn different colors over the years and it
always looks gorgeous. Such a classic home with simple beauty.
The molding is beautiful. Not too little, not too much.
The house next door. I love the use of fresh greens outside.
Wreaths on every window. All that’s missing is some snow!
Love the chairs on the front porch! I have to admit,
I was hoping someone would invite me up there for a cup of hot chocolate.
This charmer was next on the block. It’s like the neighbors got together
and coordinated exterior paint colors. Love the ceiling fan above the tree on the porch!
This bike was parked in the corner of the yard. You see a lot of these around town.
A classic brick Colonial is always a sight for sore eyes.
And on the other side of the street, this clapboard beauty takes up residence.
Let’s get a little closer for a look-see.
Love the blue ceiling on the porch!
Another entrance to the home is ready to receive Christmas visitors.
Hope you enjoyed another little tour of Geneva. These homes are just steps away from Third Street,
the main shopping drag that I featured earlier. Hope your Christmas decorating is going well.
If you start feeling stressed, just step outside for a little stroll!

  1. What a beautiful blog you have here! I was referred over from Brenda at Cozy Little House. I have lived in both the city and country (country now!) and love both, but I’m a country girl at heart.
I’m excited to come back and see what else you share. LOVE all of these homes in this neighborhood! My dream is to live in a historic home. Your photography is beautiful!
    Merry Christmas to you!

  2. I’m popping over from Brenda’s Cozy Little House to say hello. I LOVE Geneva. One of my best friends used to live in Woodridge so my first trip to Geneva was with her many years ago. More recently, I met up with a blogging buddy there in the summer of 2010. We met at The Little Traveler; had lunch, went yarn shopping. here’s the link to my post:

  5. Hi Jennifer ~ I’m one of your new blog readers, sent over from Brenda at The Little Blue House. Nice to meet you! When I saw your first post about Geneva, and then saw the houses, I just knew it was Geneva, IL. And then when you mentioned Third Street – yep, that clinched it! I live not too far from there, on the outskirts of McHenry. I venture to Geneva several times a year to do some shopping. I’ll be looking through the rest of your blog later…looking forward to “getting to know you”. Please come visit me at my blog, too! Thanks, and have a happy day. 🙂
