Christmas Eve Inspiration and Reflection

Merry Christmas Eve! I always like to use this special day for quiet reflection of the year and to be grateful for all the gifts I’ve been given. I also like to soak up the last of Christmas inspiration before everyone packs up their holiday decor. Here’s a bit of Christmas eye candy to enjoy before the big day!

We’ll start with classic red. It’s such a vibrant color and sometimes less is more. Simple felt ornaments adorn a line of ingredient jars. It’s all that’s needed!

Are your stockings hung by the chimney with care? My mother didn’t encourage belief in Santa – her philosophy was that it took away from the true meaning of Christmas – the birth of Christ. So I never had a Christmas stocking when I was little.

I will always love a Scandinavian style Christmas. I’m so enamored with their decor. So much so, that my family and I are talking about a trip to Norway or Sweden in 2021. If you’ve been there, please let me know your favorite things to do and see!

Moving on to green and neutral Christmas decor which can be calming and soothing. I’ve already started thinking about Christmas 2020 and I would love to use handmade items only. We’ll see how ambitious I get though.

One thing I didn’t do this year that I vowed to do was dry orange slices! So those are on my 2020 decorating list but who knows, maybe I’ll get some time later today to do it and make the house smell wonderful.

Look how beautiful real evergreen cuttings look for the holiday. Simple and easy, and they smell so good!

I do hope your holidays are peaceful and joyful. Oftentimes they can be stressful with family dynamics or missing loved ones who are no longer around. But still, when you remember the birth of Christ and what it meant for our world, it’s all that truly matters and is something for which we can always be grateful.

Thank you, too, for reading my blog and leaving your thoughtful comments. I read each and every one. Although I don’t always find time to respond to them all, I do cherish them.

Try not to stress over the holidays. I was part of a training session at work recently where we learned to change our responses in situations. Although we can’t control the behavior of others, we can certainly manage and change our response. Oftentimes when someone realizes they can no longer push your buttons, they’ll stop trying.

Tomorrow I’m hosting Christmas brunch which I always enjoy!

Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas! And if you don’t celebrate the holiday, I still wish you peace and happiness!
