Coastal Style Table Setting

I must have summer on my brain and in my heart because this is my second beach-themed post this week. I’m joining fellow bloggers for another installment of “It’s All Set” which celebrates the art of table setting.  As a kid, I never would have thought of it as an “art” but rather as a chore.  In the long run, my mother taught me well and I now appreciate the beauty of setting a pretty table. Today, I bring you a very simple coastal style table setting.

Coastal Style Table Setting

Summer is pleasantly busy and I don’t like to take time to create fussy table settings. I believe you can keep things simple while still setting a pretty table. Cool blues take center stage in my kitchen dining nook. This setting took me just minutes to put together.

Beach Themed Dinnerware for a Coastal Style Table Setting

I found these whimsical melamine fish plates at Home Goods and thought they’d be perfect for summer dining. I like using melamine in the summer so we can take dishes outside without fear of breaking them if dropped.

A soft blue and white table runner repeats the stripes in the plates. Cool blue drinking cups reflect the color of the blue rim around the plates. I used simple white cloth napkins edged with lace and my vintage silverware to complete each place setting.

Wooden Sailboat Centerpiece from Home Goods

My centerpiece is this adorable painted wood and driftwood sailboat, also from Home Goods. When it’s not on my kitchen table, it can sit pretty in my summer style family room that I recently gave a quick makeover.

In the corner of my kitchen nook just beyond the table, I added a simple summer vignette to match my coastal style table setting.

My little kitchen nook is all set for summer with its coastal style table setting. A simple tablescape that reflects the fun, carefree days of summer … my favorite time of year!
