Music fans will love the guitar wall in the living room above. There’s a few instruments on the top shelf of the bookcase, too. You’ll notice a book theme throughout the house. Note how the colors in the pillow match some of the guitar colors – clever touch to pull it all together.

Some of those same bright colors are reflected in the trays atop the shelves in the kitchen above the window and stove, along with a pop of color above a doorway.

Beautiful jadeite adds color to glass-front cabinets. I like the addition of orange in the tulip-patterned dishes. It makes the space look so cheery.

The colors from the guitar wall are shown in the breakfast nook, too. The play of patterns in this space are fun and work well together. Kind of gets you in the mood for spring, doesn’t it?

More of the cheerful color scheme works its way into the family room of this eclectic home with its sunny yellow walls. I love the green and white fireplace with the large piece of artwork on the mantel. The colorful pillows and curtains top it all off.

A more subdued color palette is found in the sun room – just a paler shade of the home’s existing color scheme.

Did you know that orange and red is supposed to increase your appetite? Maybe that’s why the owners chose pops of red for their dining room.

Raise your hand if you love creative and funky elements in a home! This staircase incorporates examples of color book binders on the risers. See any of your favorites? I enjoyed “To Kill a Mockingbird.” We had to read it in one of my high school English classes.

Upstairs, a cozy built-in window seat awaits. It reminds me of the type of window seats you’d see in Swedish homes and the colors remind me of paintings by Carl Larsson.

This bedroom is a little more subdued in color and feels cozy tucked under a small vaulted peak.

A girl’s bedroom is full of whimsy and fun. My daughter had a Madeline doll like the one on the shelf. I used to read the Madeline book series to her. The books were a favorite of mine when I was a little girl.

  1. How refreshing! Finally color!!! It gives each room life! I am so over the all white rooms, but adding a splash of color as much or as little as one prefers, updates the room and gives it some zest! I hope color is back to stay!

  2. I like so much about this home. However, the bed between the slanted ceiling seems awkward, especially for tall people. I can just picture myself or my husband hitting our heads frequently when getting out of bed, especially during the night.😮

  3. Love it! The designer did a beautiful job of adding color variety without making it look “messy”. Such a wonderful break from all the neutral decorating. I have always felt that it’s such a waste to not make use of all the glorious colors God has provided. Thanks for all the interesting houses you let us visit.

  4. While this home looks quite casual, it is obvious that a lot of thought, effort and collecting went into achieving the whole look, and it all goes so well together. I imagine this family as being friendly and fun loving and joining them for dinner would be a great evening.
