Contemporary Coastal Home in Rhode Island

Charming Home Series, home tour July 4, 2021

Today’s home is truly a breath of fresh air – salty sea air, that is! A modern shingle style exterior makes way to expansive waterfront views from almost every room. Rhode Island designer, Kate Jackson, worked her magic throughout the living spaces to create a stunning yet comfortable contemporary coastal home.

This house had me at hello! Walking through this courtyard to the double glass doors, you just know it’s going to be a treat to enjoy!

The light-filled space immediately tugs your lips into a smile. I love lots of windows and this contemporary coastal home doesn’t disappoint in that department.

The dining room has a Scandinavian style dining set with amazing waterfront views. The pendant light reminds me of the one my mother had over our dining table when I was a child. Only her pendant light was about three times as big!

The open concept floor plan allows you to enjoy the magnificent views from most of the home. Furnishings appear in neutral tones and don’t distract from the scene outdoors.

In my humble opinion, this is the best fireplace for this contemporary coastal home. The rocks are rounded and soft looking. They add so much texture to the space and create a sense of coziness.

I love that the bedroom in this Rhode Island home is soft and romantic. And again, amazing views are just outside the window. I can almost smell and hear the waterfront breezes blowing in!

The bathroom pairs the same soft neutral tones seen in other rooms, with a crisp white vanity. Did you notice the bathroom pendant lights are the same as the ones in the front hallway leading to the kitchen? I love when interior spaces are tied together with similar details.

Of course, the outside living areas are just as dreamy as the interior spaces! That stone fireplace serves double-duty by sharing its warmth with deck’s entertaining area. So much to love about today’s home tour!

It has a lot of scenic views and light, no need for a tv in this space, just enjoy.

I love the simplicity of the decor in this home – nothing really to compete with the views outside. I’m a big mid-century fan, so this really appeals to me – although since I lived through the actual mid-century, I only like the good decor items that came from that era. Take my word for it, not all mid-century decor was worth saving and/or repeating. 🙂

Oh, this is just how I wish my house was!! So clean and fresh looking. Where do people put all their stuff? Do they get rid of almost everything? Since I grew up with depression era parents, it is so hard for me to part with things. It really is a constant struggle. I have that waste not/want not etched in my brain.

I am sure it is a lovely location and will appeal to some…but I am really tired of “neutral”, pendant lights, sputnik lights, and mid century! Ubiquitous now.

May I ask who the architect was?

Too modern on the outside for me, but I love the airy interiors and the windows in the bedroom are wonderful.
