Country Kitchen in Red and Cream

You may have noticed that shades of red is making a comeback. Neutrals continue to remain popular but tonal reds are enjoying a comeback, from wine and burgundy to warmer hues like brick tones. If you’re a fan of red, this news should be music to your ears! Some people are a bit fearful of using red in their homes, but today’s country kitchen by Timeless Kitchen Cabinetry shows that the color can be quite pleasing, especially when paired with cream.

When decorating with red, it’s okay to pair it with similar colors, like the rust color seen in this renovated kitchen’s brick floor. A cool gray stone counter top was chosen to offset the warmth of color.

Windsor chairs and a metal chandelier give a nod to Early American decor. The gorgeous floor-to-ceiling cabinet contains a surprise.

Open the doors to reveal today’s popular modern conveniences – a microwave and an espresso machine. I love how the appliances are tucked away and out of site, yet so easy to access when needed.

Even the refrigerator-freezer is concealed behind custom cabinetry. Antique style hardware keeps country style going throughout the room.

A gorgeous farmhouse sink is accompanied by a brushed metallic faucet. I think it’s really important to coordinate your sink with with the hardware. The deep-set window provides space for a bouquet of flowers, keeping them off the counter and out of the way when cooking.

Although the country kitchen carries an Early Americana vibe, it enjoys the convenience of a built-in breakfast bar – proving you really can have the best of both worlds!

  1. I don’t care for red, my mother loved it and as a little girl she dressed me in red all the time, i got sick of it. I would like a brick floor in my kitchen, but brick goes with anything.

  2. I really like the pairing of the cream with the red. The red cabinet that housed the microwave & the exresso bar was brilliant! I really like when the appliances are hidden but handy. I lthink the red brings a warm vibe to the kitchen.

  3. I have always loved brick floors. My mom had beautiful brick floors in our house growing up and had a man come in once a month to clean them. They were something. And I love the cream and red cabinets. The cream is so sunny! It all goes together so well to make this kitchen extremely appealing to me. Thanks for sharing, Jennifer. I get so tired of all the drab gray and white everything.

  4. I love this kitchen! Looks warm & inviting & the red is so attractive. Color in the kitchen is so important to me. I have never liked the grey used so much lately. Thanks!!!

  5. JENNIFER, DID I MISS YOUR KITCHEN MAKEOVER? I AM IN THE PROCESS. HAVE A NEW COUNTER AND AM WAITING FOR ELECTRICIAN AND TILE. KEPT THE OAK CUPBOARDS AND ARE USING MOSTLY WHITES IN MAKEOVER. SO FAR SO GOOD. ALSO GOING TO CHANGE OUT LIGHT OVER SINK. ONE THING LEADS TO ANOTHER.

  6. I’m with you regarding brick floors! I also love stone floors. Probably a little chilly on the feet in cold weather though 😬

  7. I am a red gal! I have country.cabinets in red and have had them for years. I like them as much the.first.they were painted. Many thought it was bad choice and we would tire of the color. We use bright white with.ours. I like the cream. Do we know.the name and manf of the paints? I once had brick vinyl flooring and it continues to be a favorite. Thanks for sharing!!!

  8. This is a nice kitchen, though I am not a big red person beyond seasonal accents. I see brick floors a lot on the Home Town show in Laurel Mississippi. I like most design styles except early American…and brick floors. Many people love them though.
