Country Style Lake House in the Northwoods of Minnesota

Get ready to snuggle up in this country style lake house by Bria Hammel Interiors located in the Northwoods of Minnesota. I love everything about this home. It feels cozy without being dark, even though the family room wears a dark shade of paint. The living room ceiling is amazing, and all the windows are a blessing, providing great views of Mother Nature outside.

A gorgeous, red Turkish rug greets you in the entryway above, along with a vintage wood chest of drawers. Seeing furniture like this makes me want to replace some of my painted pieces. Maybe I can find a treasure or two when the flea market opens in the spring.

The white, spacious living room is anchored by a charming brick fireplace. Despite the white walls and ceiling, the room doesn’t feel cold due to the paneled textures. A pair of oars add a bit of whimsy and give a hint to nearby Deer Lake.

A dark green olive oil jar picks up the color of the throws on the accent chairs. A landscape oil painting mimics colors in the fireplace and mantel.

Panel drapes are hung toward the top of the wall as opposed to just above the window. This helps give the illusion of more height. The matching Jenny Lind chairs are the perfect addition to the room.

Can we talk about these pendant lights? This is the first thing I noticed about this country style lake house. They go so well with the rustic farmhouse table. And those black Windsor chairs! This is one of the prettiest dining spaces I’ve ever seen.

The sofa is an unexpected touch and helps to make the space feel cozier and a bit more elegant. Of course, I now want a trio of bowls just like the ones on the table, with a bit of moss tucked inside.

A large gallery wall provides an interesting backdrop in the family room. The windowpane fabric on the sofa mimics the frames on the wall.

Love this cozy corner with the leather wingback chair and the subtle pattern found in the window treatments.

The master bedroom features a pretty Jenny Lind bed and pale white and blue striped wallpaper.

Here’s another cozy corner with a chaise lounge next to the arched window.

A second bedroom in today’s country style lake house has a similar style bed. It looks like the same paint color is used on the bead board wainscoting as seen on the entryway door. I like that there’s a narrow shelf atop the wainscoting to allow space to prop artwork.

The bathroom enjoys a patterned wallpaper paired with a beautiful wood vanity.

  1. Love the entry with that green door, all the green rooms and that second bedroom with the wainscot, the picture rail, the wallpaper and the gray flannel menswear floor covering. The white rooms with the high ceilings are a little too open to suit me and seem cold.

  2. Love the color of green on the door and throughout the home. Any idea the name and brand of the paint? Home is beautifully done.

  3. Beautiful. A great mix of style and furnishings and it all goes so well together. Love everything about it.
