Cozy Cabin Retreat in the Mountains

There’s nothing like frigid winter temperatures that make you want to curl up in front of a fire in a cozy cabin retreat. Even if the weather isn’t cold, a rustic cabin is a great place to soothe your soul. Today’s Arizona home is wedged in the mountains and looks like the perfect little getaway to me!

The home reminds me of our recent trip to Galena during the holidays. Wood paneling throughout gives you the sense of being warmly hugged the minute you cross the threshold. The small kitchen is tucked off to the left while a sleeping loft is accessed by an iron ladder.

The entryway is neat and tidy with a multi-hooked coat rack. The beams and paneling are naturally textured and create the feeling of log cabin living.

From the living room, you have a view of the master bedroom with sliding barn doors. I suppose if you’re not a fan of wood, you won’t like this house. But I think it’s the perfect style for a little retreat nestled at the foot of the mountains.

And of course, you can see the grand stone fireplace from the master bedroom. I wouldn’t mind staying here all by myself to enjoy a good book in bed with the fire roaring. I once did spend a couple days alone in a nearby cabin in the woods. No TV. No radio. No internet. It was lovely!

A trio of quaint windows lets the sun stream in to wake you in the morning. The sheets have a birch bark pattern that echos the color of the stained wood paneling.

The bathroom in the cabin retreat doesn’t disappoint. I love that natural stone floor and the small window provides a view of the mountains.

No matter what time of year, the cabin provides a great little getaway. In the summer you can enjoy the front porch with a beautiful view of the pond.

  1. I love it! I pinned the barn doors opening into the next room – I would love to do this between y living and family room (or add a 2 story dual sided fireplace! love it jennifer. Are you in OH?We used to live in Ohio and Galena sounds familiar! laura in CO

  2. Oh, I so love this little cabin. I’m not a fan of a lot of wood in a home in the suburbs or in the city, but it’s perfect for this actual cabin in the mountains.
I once went off the “modern” grid for a week, to my parents’ fishing cabin, where I had electricity and indoor plumbing, but no TV, no radio and no Internet. I caught and cooked my own fish, read lots of books, took the boat out on the lake just for fun, and got to know a couple of the nearby neighbors. My trusty old dog and I had a great time. That cabin is no longer in my family, but I wish it was. I could use another of those solitary outings.

  3. I would love a solitary week-end or week for that matter at this lovely cabin. This is a lovely place to enjoy indoors and out.
