This Cozy Stone Cottage Wants to Wrap You in Its Warmth

Normally I save home tours for Sunday, but I have so many houses lined up that I decided to start featuring them on occasional Thursdays. Today’s cozy stone cottage by Susan Anthony Interiors is sheer perfection with its warm hues and intimate spaces. A mix of elegance and rusticity creates living spaces that wrap you in an inviting hug.

The multi-paned front door is flanked by two large shutters, giving a nod to the beauty of timeless appeal throughout the home.

Step inside for a great first impression as you’re greeted by a mix of paneling and wall colors. A rich, vintage bachelor’s chest adds warmth and artistry. Earthen pottery on the cabinet and the floor lend texture while the pair of caned chairs add historic appeal. The floor runner lends a bit of warmth and pattern.

At the other end of the entryway is a beautiful banister and Swedish mora clock.

The rug in the delightfully warm living room echoes the colors and mimics the pattern of the entryway runner. A stunning vintage wall cabinet is filled with more earthenware pottery and vintage books. Curved velvet furniture adds an air of elegance to the county style space.

Next to the beautiful living room is the formal dining room with a chandelier that matches the one in the living room. It’s detail like this that help rooms to flow into each other, providing a cohesive look. You’ll also find the same French doors with window treatments. No rug is needed here to cover the rich, wood floors. It makes for easier meal clean-up, too.

The breakfast nook enjoys a Dutch door and diamond-paned windows. I had diamond panes in my childhood bedroom and I used to pretend I was living in a castle with windows like that. It was actually a quad-level house and looked nothing like a castle – but I always loved the window panes.

The stone cottage kitchen is small, but pretty and functional. And that rustic wood bar top has captured my heart. It’s so earthy and organic and adds to the warmth of the home.

The wallpaper in this bedroom reminds me of wallpaper I had in one of our bedrooms. I wish I had left it in place since wallpaper is now back in style. The upholstered bed, nubby carpet, wood table, and oversized floor basket all add to the appeal of this cozy space.

A second bedroom is equally rich in textures and wears soothing colors that are perfect for a restful space. This room has an English cottage vibe with its mix of patterns.

The bathroom is updated with custom cabinetry and a marble top. Quaint, cafe curtains hang at the window to add a bit of privacy while allowing natural light to flow in.

Outside, an intimate stone patio is carved into the small, forested hillside. Even the outdoor living space is warm and cozy.

  1. Someone else who likes green and yellow! I really like that first bedroom, the wallpaper and the carving on the bed frame, and the collection of yellow pottery in the living room. A lovely outdoor patio too.
