Craftsman Dining Room: Wallpaper Week

Happy Wallpaper Week! Did you know such a thing existed? This week on the blog I’ll feature beautiful rooms with wallpaper. I’m starting off with a gorgeous craftsman dining room by Prospect Refuge Studio.

My first house had rich wood trim like this – and I did wallpaper the dining room with a Colonial style small print. This dining room has a larger pattern of ferns.

The mirror on the opposite side of the trio of windows reflects the natural light around the room.

I find the fern wallpaper to be an interesting choice, but I like it in this space. I like the green with the wood tones – plus I tend to like unexpected decor when I see it.

The craftsman dining room has a pretty yet simple light fixture. The wrought iron matches the black of the side board and chairs. The table is set simply yet beautifully.

In the mirror you get a glimpse of the adjoining living room.

The true focal point of this room is the gorgeous built-in hutch. I had one of these in my first home’s dining space. It had a mirror and leaded glass doors just like this one. Sometimes I wish I still lived in that house!

Tomorrow I’m sharing a yummy appetizer recipe from a favorite TV show, but Wednesday I’ll be back with another wallpaper post to celebrate International Wallpaper Week!

  1. Interesting, but I’m not a fan of the wallpaper or the mirror. Now I’m looking forward to your posting even more wallpapered rooms that Ii can be judgmental about. (Only kidding) :>)

    1. LOL! Style is such a personal thing. Sometimes I see a house I want to feature and then I think most people won’t like it because it’s weirdly eclectic. One of these days I’m going to go ahead and showcase a weird house to see what people say. 😉

      1. Oh yes. Please do. We all need to see something new and “weirdly eclectic” that maybe we haven’t seen over and over and over.

  2. I removed so much 70’s wallpaper from my home that for a long time I didn’t want to see it in a magazine, but now it is usually made to be easy to remove, and I enjoy the individuality it brings to a room. So many of the home pics posted online these days look too much alike inside – our media orientated society producing a sameness in design. Perhaps wallpaper will be one way people make a home uniquely theirs.

    Enjoy your blog very much!

  3. Yeah, that built in hutch is amazing. The fern wallpaper…not so much my favorite, but it is a statement, for sure.

  4. While I love that built in hutch. The wallpaper not so much. I’m not a fan of botanical prints. I’m not adverse to wallpaper I have seen some lovely prints out there especially for powder rooms. When I was a little girl my dad did a feature wall in my bedroom of purple and pink flowers with small blue flowers in between that was very pretty with light pink for the other walls. It was very striking and of all things purple shag rug for the flooring, now that screamed the 70’s for sure lol.

  5. I hate to say it but I don’t like the wallpaper either. I loved the other decor though. I looked at the links under MORE DINING ROOMS ROOMS TO ENJOY and so many of them have white walls and furniture in them and I just can’t wrap my head around wanting all that white in your house. I’d be so scared of getting it dirty I’d be afraid to really live in it. A darker cream color would be okay though, still bright and airy without worrying about scoffing and getting white stuff dirty. One of them pictured a dog sitting on a rug and its surroundings were white and all I could think was, “Either they have a good housekeeper to come and clean or they spend a lot of time cleaning it themselves.”

All in all, these are a lot more fancy than I’d ever go to the trouble of doing, but very lovely to look at. Thanks for sharing.
