Decorating with Faux Pumpkins: Market Monday

For those of you planning your fall decor, I’ve got some great sources for faux pumpkins. But truth be told, I will always prefer the real thing. The only problem is, what do you do with all the leftover pumpkins once the autumn season is over? Lucky for me, I have a friend with chickens and goats that like to eat pumpkins so I take them all to her place. (This post contains affiliate links – see my privacy policy.)

Decorating with Faux Pumpkins

Even if you compost your pumpkins to save waste, it can be more economical to decorate with faux pumpkins so you don’t have to buy new ones every year. One of my favorite types of pumpkins are the cute little white baby boos.

One year I piled a bunch of them into a cloche and used it as a center piece for my dining table.

But mostly I scatter them here and there in autumn vignettes.

I tend to like white pumpkins best but the orange, yellow, and gray ones are all pretty too. I don’t paint them or add jewels like some people do, but I did enjoy winding grapevines around some of them a few years ago.

You can find a variety of faux pumpkins out there. Fabric, resin, ceramic, glass – take your pic. The styles run from a bit glamourous to common field pumpkins. Most aren’t very expensive, especially when you consider that you can use them year after year. Shop the boutique below and click on photos to see where to find them.

  1. Fall and all that it brings, is one of my favorite times of the year…only second to Christmas. I don’t use orange in my regular decorating, but love to introduce burnt orange and all of the other fall colors at this time of year. Like you, I use to love using real pumpkins and gourds, but one year I placed a number of them in a rather open weave basket on a table, only to find they had softened and leaked onto the table and ruined the finish! Now it is faux all the way. I just wish fall lasted for longer then it actually does. I’m not a big snow lover, but here in Michigan, winter is our longest season.

    1. Oh no! Your poor table! I’ve had that happen too but luckily it was outside. I’m not a snow lover either. Sure, it’s pretty when it’s falling but after a day or two it’s dirty and not so pretty anymore. I do love to visit Michigan though!

  2. I agree that fall just doesn’t last long enough. The short time frame makes me just use the warm decorations that I have around the house vs buying a lot of new things. By the time I get my autumn shades going it’s time for Christmas so I try to stay within the buy ore greenery option than buying orange pumpkins. I have a few dusty blue and white pumpkins that I use with some warm gold accents to get me thru. I love the idea of tossing some white tiny pumpkins inside a cloche. I have 2 huge pots of blue hydrangeas on my porch by the door that bloom way up till November so I have to work with those colors until I seat them into the ground until next spring. I’ve had the same hydrangeas for 4 years now which is saving me money:0)
Love your fall home Jennifer and your ideas. Keep them coming!

  3. I hate winteralso. I live in Buffalo NY so it seems like snow is half of our year. I am 65, my husband 69. We are getting way to old for all that. I keep telling him we should relocate but our family and families all live here so it probably wont happen. He a;ways brings up hurricanes fires floods just so I will be quiet. Anyway I love your last Pumpkin with the grapevines. I certainly dont have grapevines around here. Can you suggest something else I could use. ThanksJennifer
