Easy Shabby Chic Garden Pots

Flowering garden pots are a quick way to add a touch of color in your home but unfortunately, their plastic pots leave a lot to be desired. Rather than replant them into a prettier pot, I like to wrap them up in something. I’ve used book pages to wrap pots but today I decided to create shabby chic garden pots by wrapping them in cut-up tea towels.

Shabby Chic Garden PotsYou can add a bit of color to your shabby chic garden pots by tying them up with colored baker’s twine.

Wrapping a garden pot with a tea towelFirst, measure the diameter of the plastic garden pot and cut a length of a thin tea towel so that it slightly overlaps when wrapped around the pot. Also size the fabric so that’s slightly larger height-wise. I used inexpensive white dish towels that I purchased from Target for just a few dollars.

How to create a shabby chic garden potI folded the fabric over at the top to give it a little more interest. I purposely left the edges a bit ragged as opposed to sewing a hem. It adds to the shabby chic look … and it means I don’t have to do any sewing … an added bonus!

This was a quick transformation that was easy on the pocketbook!

  1. Perfect solution when you need a quick accent to your table. We gave my mother in-law a 82 birthday party at a restaurant. I wrapped these plants in colored tissue paper. Tied with raffia and added pictures of her in high school, as a bride and with her children. Then guests took them home as favors.
