An Easy Way to Choose Paint Colors

A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending the True Value Reunion in Chicago and it was so much fun! One of the things that impressed me while I was there is the line of EasyCare Paint in an array of beautiful colors. Any time I get to look at paint colors is a good time. True Value offers a sample kit that makes it easy to choose paint colors.

When I got to the reunion, I was able to meet with EasyCare Paint’s color expert Nicole Chapple who chose color palettes for me. Two paint projects I have in mind are my daughter’s dining room and my sitting room. I don’t know which one I’ll tackle first, but hopefully both will be done by Christmas.

Choosing a Paint Color Palette

I left the True Value Reunion with an EasyCare Paint Sample Kit and green paint chips for my daughter to consider for her dining room.

The EasyCare Paint Sample Kit makes it effortless to try out a new paint color. It contains an adhesive piece of paper, a small roller and tray, and the color of your choice. For my sitting room, I decided to try a shade of rusty red called Cavern Clay.

Red is normally out of my comfort zone, but I remember my friend’s dining room was red and it was beautiful. I thought a rusty red that matched the color of my new pillow might be a good choice. I’m also considering EasyCare Paint in Daybreak which is a light green-gold color.

To use the sample kit, you roll two coats of paint onto the non-sticky side of the adhesive paper, letting each coat fully dry. I love that EasyCare Interior Paint is AAFA-certified (Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America) which means it minimizes irritants and pollutants in the air, creating a healthier indoor environment and allowing you to enjoy newly painted spaces sooner. My hubby has allergies so I need to carefully consider which paint I choose. It’s also a paint-and-primer in one, which makes application so much easier!

Cavern Clay is like a brick red and as I was rolling it out I thought it’d look great on kitchen cabinets or a piece of painted furniture. The paint is low-odor so if you have a sensitive nose, you won’t have a problem.

Once the paint dries on the adhesive paper, you simply peel the adhesive off the paper backing and apply it to a wall in your room. The color is almost identical to my newest pillow. I used a satin finish sample, but will probably choose a flat finish. EasyCare Paint comes in five stain-resistant sheens including flat, eggshell, satin, gloss and semi-gloss with long-lasting color that’s guaranteed for life!

Since light can make colors look different in a room depending on what wall you’re looking at, I moved it to the northern wall in my sitting room to see how it looks next to my landscape painting. I’ll keep it up for a few days to see how the color looks in the morning and evening, and on both sunny and cloudy days.

I’m excited about the possibility for both my sitting room and my daughter Bridget’s dining room. EasyCare Paint offers a wide variety of curated color palettes which makes it easy to mix and match colors. She’s still deciding between a few shades of green including Dried Herbs and Frosted Evergreen and might do one shade above her chair rail and another below. We’ll probably get a couple of the paint kits to help her make a decision.

EasyCare Paint is available at True Value stores – you can use their online locator to find a store near you.

  1. Great idea. I wish other paint companies would do the same. Most will provide samples, but then you have to color your wall with it – and you may not like it. The adhesive paper is a game changer.

  2. Wow, what a great product. They marketed what DIYers have been doing for years! I HATE to paint but the next time I do I’ll be using this product! Thanks for sharing.
