Eclectic Kitchen with Mixed Finishes and Green Cabinets

Blue-green cabinets on bottom, cream cabinets on top, a tiered stove hood vent in black, and warm wood on the floor, kitchen island and glass-front cabinet. All these elements come together to create a charmingly eclectic kitchen. You can be sure none of your neighbors have a similar cooking space. A red oriental runner adds a little dash of color underfoot.

Here’s a corner peek at the dramatic wallpaper I referenced earlier. Most people probably wouldn’t choose this big of a print for just one wall with a window. The way it’s positioned, it looks like the bird is looking out the window.

Just to be different, one cabinet is left natural instead of painted. It’s always these unique little twists in decorating that truly personalize a space. Makes me realize and appreciate the artistry of the designer or decorator.

Woven rattan bar stools cozy up to the wooden kitchen island. I’ve been more and more attracted to both wicker and rattan lately. Maybe it’s the texture that I’m drawn to. It was pretty popular in the 70s and then kind of lost its favor. I’m glad to see it coming back.

And note the choice of light fixtures. Glass pendants over the island, and a more unique chandelier over the small dining table. Overall, I think this is a really appealing mix of textures and color. What do you think?
