Eleven Christmas Table Setting Ideas

Less than two weeks until Christmas! It hardly seems possible. Before you panic about hosting your holiday dinner, check out these eleven Christmas table setting ideas that are sure to inspire your creativity for a fun holiday meal.

Red and White Christmas Table Setting

Colored plates are a great way to create a festive holiday table setting. Red plates (above) look festive with evergreens and berries. Navy blue plates (below) look elegant with gold baubles.

White plates are a wise choice for your Christmas table setting. They look good with anything! Set atop a white tablecloth you get the sense of a snowy landscape. Lanterns, greens, and pine cones create an easy centerpiece.

Natural Table Setting for the Holidays

If you’re like me, you struggle with thinking of creative table setting ideas when you’re under the gun with other holiday tasks. Sometimes it’s easier to simply re-create the look of a tablescape that you like, as opposed to coming up with something original.

To create a more natural looking table, use brown candles to match the color of pine cones. Use greenery on each plate in addition to using it in your centerpiece. It adds a little bit of color atop the plate. Golden chargers are also a festive addition for the holidays and you can find inexpensive ones at Hobby Lobby.

Poinsettias are a safe choice for a centerpiece, but why not try something a little different like off-white flowers paired with berries, greens, and even a few puffs of cotton! If you don’t have time to make the centerpiece yourself, show the photo to your local florist and they can recreate it.

Pastel Floral Christmas Centerpiece

A table for two gets a stroke of whimsy with sheer draping on the table and a large evergreen bough decorating the wall. When you don’t have a complicated centerpiece, you can do something fun like this.

Festive Christmas Dining Room

A green dining room gets even more festive with a Christmas wreath and greens on the table. Over-sized pine cones complete the natural look.

Small Green Dining Room

Cradle a group of candles on a plate in the center of your table. Chunky wood candlesticks look festive but you could also group brass or silver candlesticks on a vintage white ironstone plate or platter.

Scandinavian Style Christmas Dining Room

When you have a gorgeous Christmas tree in the dining room, your table doesn’t need a lot of adornment. Sometimes it’s best not to compete with the star in the room!

And finally, my Christmas table setting for this year. I like a low centerpiece so views aren’t obstructed across the table.

  1. As I’m scrolling down, I see brown candles – and I love them with the pine cone/evergreen centerpiece. I have to admit I’ve never seen brown candles, but it makes for such an original look. Also, my favorite table (other than your own, of course) has to be the green dining room. I painted my kitchen/nook a dark green (along with painted white cabinets) and have never been sorry.

  2. Lots of ideas and it would be hard to pick just one but, i can pick something i like out and use it in mine, thanks.

    1. I loved that sweet floral arrangement with off-white flowers and berries. But I was really drawn to those star shaped cookies. I wish someone would bake some and bring me a big plate of them.

  3. Love all these ideas they are very pretty. The thing with me is I barely do a table scape as I have a very small dining table and having anything other than food and the dishes etc. there is no room for a centerpiece. So I envy you being able to do that .
