DIY Embroidery Hoop Christmas Wreaths

Christmas decorating doesn’t need to be over the top to be pretty. Sometimes the simplest of decor makes the biggest statement. With that in mind, I created a few embroidery hoop Christmas wreaths that I think are cute despite the fact they only took a few minutes to create.

Today begins the Christmas Seasonal Simplicity series of holiday fun! Several bloggers are taking part and you can view their projects at the end of this post. But for now, here’s the instructions for making my embroidery hoop Christmas wreaths!

All you need to tackle this project is a few, small, wooden embroidery hoops, a few stems of faux greenery, small animal ornaments, Christmas ribbon, and a glue gun. All of my craft supplies can be found at Joann Fabrics.

Separate a single floral spray in two. You can sometimes do this with your bare hands but a pair of small wire cutters will do the trick too. Then using a hot glue gun, apply a small dab of glue onto the bottom front of the hoop and press your floral piece in place. Hold for a couple of seconds for it to adhere, and be careful not to burn your fingers! You can use the side of a pencil to press the stem onto the glue to make sure you don’t burn yourself.

Add stems facing in both directions at the bottom of the hoop to achieve the look you want. You can mix the greens or keep it simple and use just one type of Christmas greenery. I did both to show the options available. Try to keep your greens glued to the front side of the hoop so that you can easily glue the animal ornament to the bottom inside ring of the hoop.

Place a small dot of hot glue onto each hoof of the animal and place on the bottom inside rim of the hoop. To create a hanger, loop a piece of ribbon at the top of the hoop and tie the ends. You can hot glue a bit of greenery at the top, if desired.

Look closely and you can see that two hooves are glued to the embroidery hoop itself, while the other two hooves are glued to the greenery. The hoop wasn’t wide enough for all legs to be adhered to it. The animal is still secure in the embroidery hoop Christmas wreaths.

Simple and pretty, embroidery hoop Christmas wreaths are easy to make. You can choose any small item for the center of the wreath. I loved these little animal ornaments.

  1. Your embroidery hoop Cristmas wreaths are really cute. What size hoops did you use? And how wide was the ribbon you used?
