European Country Homes and More: Friday Finds #94

friday finds May 13, 2022

Finally! Gardening season is officially here and I’m happy as a clam about it. Most of my annuals are purchased and planted; this weekend it’s time to plant the veggies and herbs. Of course, as soon as I got the flowers in the ground and planter boxes, Mother Nature decided to send 90-degree weather our way. So I’ve been watering my newly-planted babies every morning. Sigh. It’s supposed to cool off this weekend (hopefully). Enough talk of gardening, let’s get on to this week’s inspiring finds!

European country home and garden

Let’s start today with this gorgeous Victorian country home in Surrey Hills that has a beautiful kitchen by deVol. The ceiling is one of the most amazing I’ve ever seen in a house.

Equally charming but on a much smaller scale is this adorable Swedish cottage which also has a vaulted ceiling, but to a lesser degree.

Speaking of small-scale, check out these small entryway ideas to help you give a fresh look to the entrance of your home.

Don’t miss the chance to see designer Marianne Brown’s home. She enjoys creating layered, lived-in looks that have become extremely popular today. In addition to the tour, you can read the interview about her design story.

I was happy to stumble upon this article about unfitted kitchens, which is my preferred style of kitchen. Nicki at Cottonwood (located in New Zealand) even has a Pinterest board for unfitted kitchens.

Finally, let’s wrap up this week’s finds with this amazing, layered Strawberry Shortcake Cake recipe that’s made from scratch. I think I’ll make this on Sunday. Looks so yummy and fresh!

Love the unfitted kitchens. Was unaware of that term, but, if I weren’t renting an apartment, this would be the way I’d go. I think most kitchens in rentals are “unfit,” not “unfitted”!

LOL. “Unfit” as opposed to “unfitted.” I think I first heard the term about a year ago. Enjoy your weekend, Teddee!

I love the unfitted kitchen and wish I had one, love the look. That kitchen from Sweden appealed to me much better than the first.
