Exposed Brick Walls: Inspiring Examples

My 140-year-old house doesn’t have any exposed brick walls, but I’ve always longed for one. They feel so rustic and organic to me, as though a home is revealing its soul by letting you see its true bones. With nothing to hide, each flaw in every brick is exposed and on display. There are so many things I’d do with a room with exposed brick walls, but I’ll have to settle for dreaming about it and living vicariously through images of inspiring examples.

Right here. This space is exactly what I dream of. Rustic, exposed brick walls paired with elegant white trim and furniture, and finished off with a gleaming hardwood floor. I would move into this home in a heartbeat!

I would even settle for one small area with a brick wall. A light gray paint on the kitchen cabinets pulls out the slight gray variations in the exposed brick. Copper accessories add warmth to this cooking alcove. And what do you think of that stove? Personally, I love it!

It’s not often that you see a brick archway in a home. It perfectly frames the kitchen cabinetry with its detailed, glass-front doors.

I’ll end with this fun, eclectic bathroom that I think will leave a smile on your face. An over-sized galvanized trough serves as a bathtub in this eclectic bathroom with warm wood floors and exposed brick walls. Would you ever install a tub like this in your home?

  3. There is something calming and eye catching with exposed brick. Love the photos. I, myself, would have have a difficult time painting brick. Once again, you have give me inspiration. Well done!

  4. I like the brick. I also like the tank tub. I couldn’t tell if the couch is navy or black but, I do like the black chairs.

  5. Love brick inside and outside of a home! I have no problem painting the brick as it shows the texture and appeal in a different way but it’s such a nice way to add dimension if you don’t want the red shades of the brick. I’ll take it any way I can. Looking for ways to add some to our home. The faux peel and stick on Amazon looks to be a good alternative. Gets high reviews too.

  6. I have one wall of exposed brick and every year I debate on whether to paint it or leave it…lol…so far I haven’t touched it.
I did white wash two brick fireplaces and LOVED how they turned out.
I love the yellow painted brick…gutsy!!

    1. I agree with you – the yellow painted brick was a bold move but turned out so pretty! Your fireplaces and wall sound lovely. Lucky you! 🙂

  7. I would absolutely install a galvanized tub in my bathroom, in a New York minute! Love it.
I have actually considered putting one in our backyard as a mini “pool” for the fun of it! 😉
