Fall Front Porch: A Place for Me Time

This post is sponsored by Fiber One. All opinions are my own.

Fall means a lot of different things to me. It’s back-to-school season, it’s time for taking nature walks, it’s fall running season, and it’s time to enjoy a little “me time” on my fall front porch.

This is my favorite spot when I step outside of our house. It’s like my little she-shed, minus the shed. I’m currently training for a half marathon and this is where I like to rest and recover after my long run on Saturday morning. I’m usually back home before hubby awakes and I enjoy the solitude out here, listening to the birds chirp. Sometimes I’m visited by a hummingbird.

My favorite fall coffee mug comes with me out to the porch. It’s especially pretty out here when the leaves start to turn color.

This past Saturday I ran 8 miles – next Saturday I run 9 miles. It’s really important to consume some carbs and protein after a long run (along with water). Protein is critical to repairing muscles after an intense workout. I don’t feel like cooking after running that far, so a convenient and healthy snack like Fiber One Protein Nut bars are perfect for me.

My daughter first told me about these bars (she eats one every day). At less than 200 calories per bar, I appreciate the generous 10 grams of protein and gut-friendly fiber. I also love that no artificial sweeteners are used. But what I love most is the taste! I think the Chocolate Pretzel Nut Fiber One bars are my favorite. I can enjoy this guilt-free treat after my long runs in my favorite corner of the front porch.

I like to add seasonal touches to my porch. Having a pretty she-shed type space to watch the world go by helps me relax and unwind. I added a collection of orange pumpkins to the little side table. When choosing pumpkins, I look at the shape of the stem just as much as the shape and color of the pumpkin itself.

Of course, I like the variety of colors now available at our local pumpkin stand. It makes decorating for fall more enjoyable!

Mornings out on my front porch are so peaceful, whether I go for a run or not. A cozy throw and plush pillows add comfort and style, allowing me to fully embrace a little me-time. I think every woman deserves a space of her own where she can relax and get away.

  1. Your fall porch looks so inviting. I’m just getting my fall things out now and feel like I’m a little bit late but it’s been a busy few weeks. I love the Fiber One bars, too. I eat one each morning. My granddaughter got me started with them. The lemon is my favorite. I look forward to all of your posts and really enjoy the home tours.

    1. Hi Karen! I haven’t tried the lemon bars yet. I’ll have to check those out. I’m so glad you like the home tours. It’s fun looking for a pretty home to feature each Sunday. 🙂

  2. Your porch looks so cozy. I really miss having a covered porch. I do have a cozy enclosed area off my back door, but I miss an actual porch. Especially like yours. I’m a bit envious of your running talent. My arthritic knees are giving me trouble lately. Looking back, I wish I had never stopped ballet/yoga. About Fiber one bars, are they really crunchy and sticky? Just wondering…

    1. Sorry to hear about your knees, Nancy. That’s no fun. My daughter is a yoga instructor. I used to do Forrest yoga (my friend taught the class). The Fiber One protein nut bars are crunchy and chewy at the same time. I don’t like the ones that are dry, but these aren’t dry. I really do like them!

  3. I love my front porch. My house sits far enough back that birds, cows and horses can be seen. My cat, Charlie, and I like to take my coffee out and
enjoy the peace before the day gets started.

  4. You have such a cozy and pretty front porch! I love the pops of orange with the yellow and blue. ADORABLE owl coffee mug! Finding a bar with protein and that’s low carb and sugar is so important, I’m gluten free now, so it’s a little harder for me. Yay for you in training, take care and be safe!

  5. I love your posts. I am a house nut and I love looking at all the different homes. Where did you find that darling plaid throw? It is wonderful!

    1. Hi Liz!

Glad you’re a house nut too. I don’t know what it is – but I never get tired of looking at homes. I found the plaid throw at HomeGoods. They had several different ones.
